i've just been told by my favorite sportsbook that they will not honor my deposits thanks to a new law against online gambling passed in Maryland. i haven't yet managed to find out what law exactly was put in place.

I'm pissed off about this. The idea that online gambling has to be made illegal because some people are using it for money laundering is an argument for collective punishment. Not everyone who gambles is money laundering. There are a lot of small-time players (like myself) who work hard, play fair and have big dreams.

i think online sportsbetting is as American as apple pie. You can't find a sports news source that doesn't quote odds. What's the fun of watching the NFL if you're not a putting a little bit of attention on your favorite team?

i see people like him to be politically ambitious do-nothings who overstate threats from a few in order to curb the rights of many. He doesn't represent the Maryland that I know.

If Mr. Rosenstein wanted to serve the public he'd direct his zeal against corporate polluters. That would be too much work; so he'd rather make it seem like he's doing something by playing God with the Internet.

please don't reply by telling me how to evade this law. i'm sure the Federal Gestapo is watching this forum.

Sport-bet and Sportbet are two different sites. Sport-bet.net takes you to betzone.com, which is a CRIS site (can be used as a back-up sometimes if bmaker.ag is down). Sportbet.com is owned by 5Dimes (and can be used as a mirror for them).

5dimes say that Marylanders can deposit via ** (but not CC). they also say that they will honor payouts to MD. I wonder how they will accomplish that. (Maybe they haven't paid out yet to MD since the new law came out.)

Took awhile but the bottom line is they are not taking new customers from Md. or Washington State(not DC or Virginia).If you are grandfathered in there is no problem.Hopefully this clarifies the OP post.

freedom in America is an illusion. The minority is controlled and told what behaviors are acceptable by the majority. Pot, gambling, prostitution, the list goes on and on. If the majority doesn't approve of the behavior it is illegal. there is a big difference in what's offered by sport-bet (bookmaker) and 5dimes (sportbet). for the gotta-have-results-soon crowd, sport-bet gives you runlines, quarters, quarters in progress. also, you can bet as little as $1 online. also, they accept $50 deposits. (they used to accept $25 deposits.)

i may have to move. and, i really hate these jerks who ban something that they don't want to play with just to advance themselves politically.

I remember Neteller didn't take Maryland residents' business as far back as 2004. I logged into my Neteller account while on vacation in Maryland not knowing their policy and my account was temporarily suspended shortly thereafter, and I had to send them a copy of my ID which showed I was not a Maryland resident to get my account reinstated.
