Sportsbooks least likely to close your account
    Howdy.

Let's say one profits around 20-30 grand per year on a book. Which sportsbooks would be least likely to shut down or limit your account? The only one I can think of would be BetFair due to their hefty commission system charging 20% commission to their top earners.

That's not even one max NBA bet to Pinny. 30k/yr on major sports and they probably wouldn't even notice you...

Pinnacle and sbobet are golden for this but I would never want to bet there as you would only get fair market odds. If you are not american then you have a bottomless pit of bookies to sign up to where you can get odds that are not in line with the market. Maybe a bit of a hassle but if you are really a big player then you should not be too bothered being funded all across the internet.

Leaving alone your misleading comment about Betfair's commission, they are an exchange and exchanges will never shut or limit you for winning. It's not their money you are winning.

So leaving exchanges aside, Pinnacle, SBO, 188Bet and Tabcorp wouldn't be fazed by a player winning $20-$30k p.a.

Premium charge is rather similar to being thrown out - in that you can't get any money on at decent prices anymore.

I think that is demonstrating the common misconception about the premium charge.

I am an avid user of Betfair. I am not a trader. I'm a regular value seeking punter. I am not subject to the premium charge. Over the past 10 months I've paid 25.5% commission on my profits at Betfair, obtaining the best prices currently available anywhere and of course I can use Pinnacle as well.

And in the 12 months before that it was 41%

Say what?!? What am I missing here? You paid that much in commission, while NOT being subject to the premium charge?!?! I'd hate to think of what the rate would've been had you been subject to the premium charge (whatever that is). 25.5% and 41% of your hard earned profits??? This sounds horrible, yet everyone seems to love Betfair -- which leads me back to my first thought -- what am I missing here?!?!

As is plainly obvious from my newbie questions in the other thread, I don't know much about Betfair. Please enlighten me, Hareeba.

yes, when stated like this it does sound like a hell of a lot of commission, and it is

but the point is that despite it one can still achieve better odds than most other places most of the time

take the time to work out the effective commission you are paying at regular books and you will get a shock

the big difference is that it is transparent and easy to calculate at Betfair but regular books don't show it

                    simple example:
                    bet1: win $100 at Betfair subject to 5% commission ($5) , netting $95
bet 2: lose $90 no commission

overall $5 commission paid on $10 gross profits = 50%, net profit $5

What book can have better odds than pinnacle? I'm Canadian so that's nice to hear.

It's not a misconception, it's a personal example. Before premium charge I used them all the time, prematch and trading. Then PC came, they took something like $1200 for a single week, on top of regular commission.

Thus, they now effectively have the worst prices on the market, so identical to being thrown out. Not been back since.
