Im asked this all the time by the same teller who cashes it, same one, she asks the same thing, kinda makes me nervous, Im not gonna say "Oh this is from gambling". The first time she asked, she says, "What kind of check is this, is this a payroll check"? I pause and nod, and then reply "Yes, its payroll". So now whenever she asks I say "Its a payroll check". This is at a bank that is for credit union users, my actual bank, when I took it to a branch, the idiot teller says we cant cash this, its from Canada, I didnt push, sounded dumb to me, I bet if I took it to another branch there would be no problem. Anyone have any stories about cashing a payout with their bank?

#9Several years ago (2004) I actually had a bank not just ask what kind of check it was, they called the bank that issued the check to verify the account it was cut from had the funds to cover it (14k). It also was stupid of Sportsbook.com to cut a check that size but I was one of the lucky people to get paid that amount during that time period. Ever since that moment only wires/**/Moneyorders for me.Comment -

#10I never cash checks. I always deposit it at my bank and wait for it to clear. By cashing it at an independent bank, what happens if a processor gets shut down and the check bounces?Comment -
