As a Canadian, even you European players out there........why play anywhere else?
Nobody comes close to these guys, not even Fishhead's beloved Heritage Sports.

kinda depends on what you play
for straight bets on US sports Matchbook beats Pinnacle most of the time
for soccer AH and totals, SBO and 188Bet
for other sports Betfair pretty well matches Pinnacle on most and offers more markets

Only wish I could use Pinnacle. If I had to choose between Pinnacle and Matchbook as an out, i'd take pinnacle in a heartbeat.

Matchbook has volume way too late for sharp players, who like early lines and not just 5h before the game. SBO and 188Bet are shady asian books, i wouldn't trust those as far as i can spit.
And Betfair are greedy bastards with high commisions, as far as i hear.
So yes, you might safe a cent or 2 on some lines, but Pinnacle beats all of those by more than a mile when it comes to things that are far more important in the long run.
That being said, of course you need more outs than just Pinny. But they are the best.

true, but as I said it depends on what you like to play

I suggest that says more about your biases and/or ignorance than about those books' legitimacy

granted commissions are relatively high but when I say they are mostly on a par with Pinnacle's odds I'm not stupid enough to be ignoring the commission level. It works out pretty well equivalent to Pinnacle's juice.

simply untrue
and for many players that 2 cents is more than their annual profit

they are undoubtedly the best overall bookmaker
but if I could have only one betting agency it would have to be Betfair

Do you manage to win on either BetFair or Pinnacle? And if so, can you give me a rough idea how much it is on your turnover?
I quit using BetFair quite some time ago already after my gross winnings were 400k Pounds and I paid 300k Pounds in commissions, so was left with just 100k Pounds. I thought I am not going to work any longer for you guys (BetFair). Effectively my premium charge was 75%. So when BetFair started introducing this, I had no hard feelings with those guys forced to pay the 20%, as I know that no real gamblers (non-traders) will end up paying this much.

I'm not a mega sized player and don't trade and (touch wood) haven't yet been hit with Betfair's premium charges. I make a reasonable living with most of my turnover being at Betfair and Pinnacle but don't readily have accessible the % commission I've paid to Betfair.
So frequently I see posts suggesting Betfair's commission is too high. Whilst I concur that it is relatively high by exchange standards and would like to see it reduced, the fact remains that it works out to less than the juice you pay at most books. Certainly more than anywhere other than Pinnacle. It seems Betfair's problem is that the amount of commission you pay them is up front there for you to see. Bookies just don't declare how much juice they are extracting from you. You can be sure that it is more than at Betfair*.
* exceptions: Pinnacle perhaps, and Betfair's premium charge players

Not really, everyone should be aware of that asian bookmakers, and most asian ppl in general, have a different way of thinking.
I have no problem imagining how one of those books runs/goes under with everyone's money, and there will be absolutely nothing you can do. Can you imagine that this happens with Pinny, theGreek or BM? Here at least there would be other books helping out prolly, like BM does often on crashing shit books. With SBO noone would give a rartsass, and your money would simply be lost without any further hope.

no more likely to happen with the Asian books than those in the Caribbean
where are all the reports of issues with SBO and 188 which compare with all those for the Caribbean mobs?
this has the stench of prejudice about it

Pinnacle is great. The only downside about Pinny is they line moves so fast. So many times, you can find better odds in other asian books or Matchbook.
The problem about Matchbook is, they're not useful in college sports since liquidty is very poor.

For NBA/NFL first half, Pinnacle beats matchbook. For other US major sports lines/odds, matchbook looks a little better.

NCAAF is fine for the bigger games, and some of the NCAAB games, but right, there's always a liquidity issue for the "obscure" sports/games.

Player Protection
The Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission regulates most forms of gambling in the Isle of Man, which includes both land based and online operations. As a body, it is statutorily charged to ensure that gambling is conducted honestly and fairly, remains free from criminal influence and exploitation and does not cause harm to the public interest, individuals and families. However for the avoidance of doubt, please note that the player protection principles of the Commission do not extend to third party payment providers engaged by licence holders. Funds Protected
On the Isle of Man we make sure that all licensee's have a system in place which fully protects all player funds. This means that any deposits or winnings you have with an island regulated gaming firm are secure and can be enforced by law. Independent Testing
All operators must have the games they offer independently tested by an external testing facility, approved by the Gambling Supervision Commission, to ensure their mechanisms are fully random and therefore fair.

that is for asian bookies. where are thegreek, bookmaker or your other favourite bookies regulated and what guarantee do you have except their "word"? I am not saying that thegreek will steal your money, I have some money there as well, but some statements about many asian bookies here are just idiotic.

sorry to go off topic, but what is the legal status of online books in canada, i see bet 365 adds in cfl games, the score t.v. will say "odds provided by bodog.net" and then this the toronto star had an ad for a contest from sportsbook.com , but certain banks won't accept deposits from ewallet, again sorry to go off topic,
pinnacle is great for single plays, but matchbook is just as good imo and greek and 5dimes for teasers

The Score mentions SIA as well.
I think next year Ontario is going to open an online site, just like what BC has now which is called PlayNow.com.
