    Personal betting limits illegal!?
    Are personal betting limits illegal?

From where sportbooks get justification to limit someones betting?

I think sportbooks should provide same service for all customers!

    What you think?

Could this be a good court case?

Maybe in the UK with bookmakers more like convenience stores but I don't see it. Vegas is the worst limiter and will change the line as well as the limit on you depending on who you are. It is not considered unethical for a bookie to choose who they want to bet with. The dicey part comes in when they advertise x and offer y but it won't be enough to change anything.

Not even in the UK, you have the right to refuse to serve.

Yes, you can take them to court. You may also use Sbr Points for the filling fees.

It would be nice but unfortunately it seems there's no way.

I've always believed that there ought to be a minimum liability which a bookie has to accept at the odds on offer.

That's the way it is on racecourses in Australia at least but unfortunately it doesn't apply online. But we live in hope.

Nearly all companies will have a policy of refusing service or altering service to anyone, however if the company advertises they way Bill describes, at least in the US, then yes, you could have a court case. Of course this only pertains to US based companies. Their might be something in the EU laws about bait and switch advertising, but I am not familiar with it.

When I don't like something that a company or person does, I do something about it.

What I do doesn't always change their ways, but I feel better about it.

I wouldn't accept drastically lowered limits. I would just find someone else to bet with. If you stay, you can't really complain.

Nothing you can do. Every bookmaker limits liability otherwise they could be bankrupted overnight.
This will only change if it becomes properly regulated.

You ought to have the right of anonymity. That is, you identify yourself for payment purposes only, after the bet is agreed.

IG used to (maybe still) allow you do this as they recognised they could deal a weak price if they already knew you were calling in to close an open position.

Like any other business, they can refuse or limit service to anyone. While you're at, take your bartender to court as well for cutting you off. GL

Most of them have it covered in their rules, with a "no professional gambers" rule.

And professional could well be defined as someone who makes money.

It's OK as long as it isn't based upon race, color, religion, sex, or national origin

stan james do not accept finnish customers and there is no legislative reason for that, they just dont want to!

There are several US based companies that allow online betting that is perfectly legal; especially in horse racing. Just depends on the state you live whether they can accept you as a customer. Not-to-mention, there is limiting sports betting online in the state of Nevada, if you register properly and following the guidelines.
