Say I want to bet a team at 40/1 or worse right now for the super bowl, then hedge against them (bet on their opponents) once they make the playoffs. Do books allow this or will I get some BS about it?
Do books allow hedging against a futures bet?

#2This should be done through separate books.
Books likely won't say anything but it is a good way to get your limits cut and probably an inconvenient processor delay when you come looking for a cashout.Comment -

#3I would just ask if you need to use the same bookie to do it. The best thing would be to go elsewhere.
I know someone said Carib has a weird hedging rule, but not sure how they treat hedging of futures like you want to do.Comment -

Betfair is by far the largest in the world but they don't accept US players.
Matchbook is the only real alternative for US players but they have limited liquidity on non US sports.Comment -

#7I'd be inclined to think a lot of books wouldn't even notice that you bet a future on one team and their opponent in another game.Comment -

#8Not to worry. Most Books could care less if you're hedging a future--they figure to make the vig regardless.Comment -

With Futures, an all-comers sportsbook doesn't care. With a recreational book, they likely won't even realize what you are doing. If they were that on top of things, they'd figure it out and want to take the bets anyways.Comment -

#13Thanks for the heads-up on Carib, Bill. I have never played there, but I have an account due to a previous SBR contest. I think I'll make a deposit there for FB.Comment -
