    Sportsbook Security
Does anyone else feel uncomfortable giving their password when speaking with support? Why do books require this, all it takes is a disgruntled employee and my balance is at risk. IMO no one should have access to your password.

Definately, my current sportsbook doesnt ask for mine. Its to risky, they are pretty much asking you to trust someone you never met half way accross the world.

How are they supposed to verify they are speaking to the account holder? I've never had a problem with any offshore account.

should be no problem. there are tons of personal questions they can ask you, or set up a special phone-in password (like wsex). no one from the book can tamper with your bets and transactions if you're only allowed to bet online (this is already a case with many books).

This issue gets raised every few weeks

Proper security should not require you to disclose your password to anybody.

All the top sites don't do it.

I've never heard of any bank ask you for it.

In fact they all make a point of telling you that they wont.

5Dimes requires your password anytime you speak with support I really think its time they put in a different security measure, maybe ask a secret question or DOB

Exactly, honestly I do not see anything wrong in giving your password to them cause normally they already have it in the system, so they just ask you for verification purposes.

People keep posting that as an excuse but at the better agencies the staff don't have access to passwords.

Passwords are strictly a matter between the member and the IT security system.

Does your bank every ask you for it? Moneybookers? Neteller? Betfair? Pinnacle?

I personnaly was very surprised to be asked for my password on live chat, and refused to give it. It was possible to get assistance by giving other iinformations......

Serious bookmaker shoudl never ask for this type of information via support.
Sometimes, even their Terms & Conditions prevents you from giving the password !

Even I don't have problem giving up PW'S over the phone and I try to be damn careful. But, maybe hareeba is right. One thing that you can do is to request a "payout password". This is an extra PW that is not needed to log in, does not show up on your account or can be caught by a keylogging program or device, phishing etc. Why? Because it is only given over the phone in the event of a payout request. You have a notation put on your account that all WD'S to be initiated by phone only, and with P/O pass.

This is good for both the book and the player. In fact any book that would not let you you do this I would steer clear of.
