Could someone break into a Sportsbook's Moneybooker account and make deposits?
Robert from Bet911 told me that they had "60 or 70" fraudulent deposits made when their moneybookers account got "hacked".

Is this possible? Has anyone heard of such a thing?

When I mentioned this in another forum I got this response:

Moneybookers Inc. has one of the safest and rigorous e-wallet solutions in the world. They built their reputations on it. And they are always improving.
When there is a "fraud" or malpractice of use, your acct. gets LOCKED and the funds are held until investigation concludes. The book will have to forfeit the amt too.

What kind of crap are they feeding you?
Anyone here know anything more about it?

Why would it not be possible?

Just for a start, it's likely that at least a few people working for the bookmaker would know how to access the account and send payments out.

            I really don't know Hareeba!

I have just never heard of it happening before. I would think that a sportsbook would have some checks and balances in place with an initial verying system in place, the amounts that should be sent out, and a cross check.

And moneybookers too would have some checks in place, in that they heavy ID everyone who opens an account. Why only Bet911? There would be far more lucritive books to hit if you could crash the moneybookers system.

            I don't buy it.

But I am open to other opinions.

The scenario I suggested doesn't really amount to hacking the Moneybookers system, rather a simple unauthorised access to one Moneybookers account by perhaps a disgruntled employee.

Yes, I could see that. Robert did use the word "hacked" though.

Who knows? Maybe SBR can find out more......

60-70 fraudulent deposits made . How ever bet911 still accepting deposits via MB . Makes no sense .
MB would suspend all accounts till further investigation . That would include bet911 account as well .
I wounder if MB knows about this accusation . If Robert is lying bet911 can get in deep shit . If he is . MB most likely will suspend their account .
If someone hacked 911 account and made a withdrawals(to 2-3 different accounts) i would buy it .But made deposits . Look no book in the world has an info on your MB password . So if you hack 911 account you can only take out the money .

I think what Hareeba! said, but I really didn't understand what he was talking about. I think it was making deposits into players accounts from Bet911's account

And why it would be my problem I haven't a clue. I put my money out up front before making a bet. Let them do all the investigations they want, it is not my problem, I want to get paid in a timely fashion.

                        One of two things perhaps:
                        1. the "hacker" emptied their MB account so there's nothing in there to pay MB withdrawals, and/or
                        2. on reporting the unauthorised transactions to MB, MB has frozen all relevant accounts, including 911's pending investigation

According to Robert 3. Moneybookers says a bunch of deposit are fraud, bet911 stops using moneybookers a s a withdraw method until they are sure no other deposit are frauds (bet911 investigating all accounts with moneybookers deposits) #11 .
It looks like fraud is been done (if any) from players account to bet911 account .

In first statement he is blaming moneybookers . In his 2ed 911 account is been hacked . It doesn't odd up .

Personally, I don't buy it because of the excuses re Neteller too, and the "you can only take a check" line for payouts.

But, if one suspends that disbelief, I think the two statements can be reconciled. I think what he's saying is that 60-70 player accounts made deposits to Bet911 via Moneybookers. Then Moneybookers contacted Bet911 to tell them that all of these deposits were fraudulent. (Backstory must be that someone hacked innocent third parties' Moneybookers accounts, and used that money to make deposits, either direct from the account or by transferring to other Moneybookers' accounts first). So Bet911 thought it had a lot more money than it had. As far as I can see, Bet911 would have lost money only if they made any payouts (so after the deposits and rollover) to any of those 60-70 accounts. Or have I missed something re how this would have cost Bet911 money?

Anyway, so I think you can get the 2 statements to make sense as part of a larger story. But I do think it's just a story.

From the scammer(s) perspective, it seems like too clumsy a way to make money. If you can get into someone's Moneybookers account, you'd withdraw their funds straightaway, hoping to get it cashed out before anyone notices. Transferring to a sportsbook, having to meet WR and then trying to withdraw just doesn't make sense - you've just given Moneybookers all that time to trace the $$. Plus, if you're doing this with more than one account at the sportsbook, the sportsbook itself may not pay out because of an multiple account/IP rule or any other reason a C book might use, unless you're trying to tell me 60-70 scammers all hit upon the same idea at the same time.

'was hacked' is often a colloquialism the less technical use for 'something happened that I didn't understand', so it is possible the two stories could be true, if for example Moneybookers claimed 60-70 deposits into Bet911 were fraudulent (perhaps CC deposits from Eastern Europe or somewhere that were charged back), but I agree it's a bit of a stretch.

                                    Security Charge Backs

NO charge back risk for merchants - just via Moneybookers
Per a merchant's request we do offer a business model with full fraud and ********** protection. In that case we do not pass on the charge backs to the merchants but absorb them ourselves. We reserve however the right to withdraw this policy for any particular merchant who we determine is not exercising due diligence or is operating in a way which results in a higher than the normal exposure. If you are interested to benefit from this business model please contact us.
                                    How we make this possible:

                                    * Moneybookers offers high payment security, and reduces risk with measures such as credit scoring and payment limits.
                                    * Registration information is verified using proprietary and third-party databases. Conflicting information results in an unsuccessful registration. We also monitor account activity for signs of unusual activity that might point to fraud.
                                    * New Moneybookers users are subject to lower transaction limits until their account has been successfully authenticated. Once a customer is successfully authenticated, they are given full payment privileges up to the standard transaction limits.

                                    * We work with law-enforcement agencies to protect against fraudulent activity through the Moneybookers payment system.

I don't know what the situation is in this case, but clearly Moneybookers can be hacked into, and it's happened on multiple occasions, as you can check yourself by using google. Here is one thread from this year of a poker user who had his Mooneybookers account hacked: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/28...hacked-384361/

Again, I have no idea what the real story is in this case, but "could" a Moneybookers account be hacked or defrauded? Certainly.

Yes it can be hacked ,let's say your email is been hacked and your MB password was their so the hacker gained an access to your account . Ones you report fraud or possibility of fraud ,your account will be locked immediately . Bet911 account is active . Why ?
Tell you why THEY WANT YOUR MONEY/DEPOSIT ONLY . 911 just don't wanna pay .
Or they have no money to pay .

I would bet their moneybookers will still take moneybookers deposits.

A deposit only moneybookers. What a neat concept. Cuts the expenses way down.

I would go over and deposit $20 myself just to prove it, but at this point I would feel like I was just rubbing salt.....

My guess is that their moneybookers players just happened to win as a whole and thus they have no money in it. Which is typical for us facing books that get no us square dollars. Probably got 83 accounts from Ukraine taking bonuses that happened to win.

moneybookers is very unsafe company especialy because they use emails as logins,so hacker break in your email and your money is gone as they did to google and yahoo servers emails, also they closing low flow cash accounts as they are not interesed in them because of low fees

why would your money be gone if your e-mail got hacked?

They still need a password. And Moneybookers is pretty tight on that aspect.
