Used as a guide, the ratings are helpful, but certainly each bettor should use their judgment based on all information available on a particular book.
Is it possible to trust the SBR rating anymore?

You can look up top and see why, both are clearly overrated, Justbet as well. For example we recently saw a BOL dispute and how it was handled, it spoke volumes to anyone that was watching. That said overall they do a good job, it is a difficult task to assign a universally accepted grade for every sportsbook in existance. Use it as part of the equation but to pretend the site has the same agenda as the players could be a costly mistake.Comment -

#39Even having been burned big time by the ridiculous B+ rating of Bet Phoenix, I agree with the general sentiment. SBR is a great site (great tools, this forum is great source of info, SBR willing to mediate any reasonable dispute, etc.).
The ratings, however, are unreliable. You have to pay attention to what the players are saying on the forums, in their own reviews, etc.Comment -

#40This is also why it is good take other ratingguides for your research. For example;
Betway SBR give them a D-, but if you check with all of the guides, you come closer to the truth. My point; it can save you a lot of money making this research BEFORE..you decide deposit funds. My point 2; perhaps you never deposit funds to a company because a company have D-, but in fact this company deserve a B+ or at least a C.
From my research Betway is under-rated. I dont say D- is wrong but for me they should be at least a C-. Lot of worse books outthere with higher ratings.Comment -

they will say its because of wsex....but while wsex has had some complaints, matchbook has had 0 complaints. so i think its just them being pissed that mb stopped advertising.Comment -

besides, my own personal interest mainly comes from the annoyance when i read posts of someone repeatedly writing posts like
"odds2u.com rate them 4 out of 10" or
"odds2u.com has just downgraded them',
when odds2u is in fact you and that downgrade was done by you. it comes across as you trying to generate free traffic for yourself in a forum that is owned by a competitor and/or some sort of an attempt for your site to be somehow taken seriously by other bettors.
plus spamming the board with links (which i thought wasn't allowed), for example here:
Sports betting and handicapping forum: discuss picks, odds, and predictions for upcoming games and results on latest bets.

#43... it's hard to maintain a claim of objectivity when sbr recieves advertising $$$ from the very orgs that they are reviewing.
havig said that though, justin and the boys really go to bat for the players on legit disputes with books, so it's a mixed bag.
look at the postings and sort out the touts and the haters and the posters will give the best reviews.
i agree with the bp example. also, how can 5dimes maintain their ranking when they repeatedly treat winners like crap. i say give me a straight -110 on either side like a lot of local bookies and if i lose, i promise i won't blame anybody but myself, but if i win, i want to be treated just as well, and not like a criminal.Comment -

SBR isn´t that good when it comes to european books.
But they are right with their D rating for betway and sportingbet imo.
This books likes to void winning bets after the event has finished for no reason.
Thats good enough for a D- rating imoComment -

#46it's in the forum you find a better idea of how a book is doing. seems impossible to keep up and have a good ratings system with all the books and changes in how they handle themselves daily. but every day you will find comments on how books are doing good or bad in the forum. have a book in mind. go to the forum. ask the question. someone will have had an experience that will render a comment.

#47Used to be that way. Not anymore. Nowadays people can't wait to vent their personal frustrations by posting some bs criticism of a book.
If I were a gambling man I would expect a correlation between that phenomenon and the posters who were attracted here by the free SBR points. A few (worthless) points are important to them, they expect things for free, and if they don't get their way from a book they come crying here; not bothered by any knowledge of the industry.
Of course some of the criticism is valid and useful. But as far as a steady stream of reliable info by posters, this forum has lost it. As much as 90% is bs.Comment -

#49I would add though that it is not just the nickel-and-dimers who post useless info. You also get professionals who get their limits cut for various reasons who post angry complaints - when 99% of forum people would not be attempting the betting strategies that are leading to the issues, whether it be chasing steam or hammering specific props or whatever.
Whether or not the books are justified in slapping on collars for those things is another discussion. I am just saying I see all the time where pros post extreme negative reviews that are simply irrelevant to the majority of players.
A serious player really needs to get to know some players on a personal basis that you trust and whose feedback is relevant to you.Comment -

#50here is the SBR rating guide http://www.sportsbookreview.com/Spor...atings/Rating/
And when you check it closer its a lot of A and B books I can´t understand what they doing there; (SBR you can reply thoose books 2)
here is the list I dont understand and I also give comments on them. I would appreciate thoose companies should be checked much closer.
Legends (A), Small Company, The software is very nice but when you check it closer there is very few soccer-options. But this company could be a B for me for American sports.
William Hill (A), this rating is just to bad. I have many friends telling me they are shit, only good for Poker and Casino, sportbettors often giving a "0" limit after 3-10 bets. This site was A+, that that was 4-5 years ago. Not anymore, stay away. I Give this shit bookie an D- for sportsbettors.
Victor Chandler (A) about the same as William hill I give them a D- for sportsbettors.
Bet Gameday (B+) I been treated like shit here, for me this rating looking very strange.
Bet Phoenix (B+) with all the respect for the people having problem with them, B+ looking very strange to me.
Blue Square B+, this Company can be good for your first 10 bets, then your limits is cut to nothing. Only for poker and casino-players. B+ is to high for sportsbettors.
Nine.com B+ (watch bet gameday)
Paddy Power. (B+) This must be the most over-rated company on internet (and william hill) For me this Company is D- or an F.
Skybet (B+) Same shit as Paddy Power. 5 smaller bets and limits cuts to $3. Only for Casino and pokerplayers. I give them a D- or an F.
VIP Sports(B+) same family as Bet gameday and nine.com
Bet Direct (same as Stan James) (B) They closing down accounts with no particullary reason. Before this they cut your limits down to 0 very fast. I give them a D-.or F.
IAS Bet (B) They very often have prices that you cant bet on, just to get customers. I give them a D-
Bet LasPalmas (B) I read many complaint on them, I would not say this is a B, but Im not sure here but B looking to high to me.
Bet Atlas (B-) This is one of the stranges ratings to me. Reading just bad of them.
Interwetten (B-) 5-7 years ago this rate was alright, last years Interwetten lower all bets for all customers. I give them a D or D-.
Skybook (B-) reading some bad stories about them B- looking very strange.
UK Betting (B-) I think this site dont exists anymore. Seems strange when you visit the site. Anyway. Far to high.Comment -

#51I add to this list
888 sport, same XXXX as william hill, ias bet and other companies, gives prices to get customers but you been not able to bet on them. D- or F to me.
Bet Horizon (B-) same family as bet laspalmas, looking strange.
Betsafe (C) This book is only useful for Casino and pokerplayers and has nothing to do with sportsbetting. They cut your limits within 3-5 bets. (I have many friends telling me the same) D- or F to meComment -

#52This is importand because Companies playing with customers, we cant let this continue.
If you decide deposit to a sportsbook then you must be able to bet more than 3-5 bets before they cut your limit. In other case this is NOT a bookmaker or sportsbook. I think everyone here agree with that.
THIS MUST INCLUDES IN THE GRADING BEFORE OTHER THINK THEY COULD DO THE SAME, AND IF SO, THATS THE END FOR SPORTSGAMBLING.
Only we together can stop this awful behaviour and the only thing that works if is SBR downgrade thoose companies. Because SBR is big enough and they listened to that.
At least you now got MY blacklist and MY review and experience with thoose Companies.Comment -

The rest is totally unknown for me.
Bookmaker, Greek, BetJamaica, Legends and 5Dimes, Bowmans, ThePig and BestLine, all A bookies? WTF? I tried them all and they really suck.
Bookies I think deserve a better rating are:
Bet365, juicy bonus, good odds, high limits and a wide selection of sports and options.
Bwin. I really love this bookie. Good odds, limits are okay, wide selection of sports and options and the bonus is good + their b'inside loyalty program is probably the best around!
Betway: WTF?! D-? You must be joking with me.
Bet24 is worth more than a C.
I only had a few problems with Bet365 in the past. But we solved them.
I can't understand why people are having problems with Bwin. Really?! What are you doing?
Me and my friends have been using Bwin for arbitragebetting for 2 years now and never ever had any problem at all. Some weeks we can wager over $40000 in one week = NO PROBLEM.
I have higher limits at many sports/markets at Bwin/Bet365 than I have at Pinnacle.

What I like to do is scroll through the forum and and see what the players are saying about the books. With this , I form my own ratings and opinion. The forum is what makes SBR so great. You get to hear all the players stories. If I hear enough good things about a book, I give them a try.
