If you are still meeting locals in 2021 there is a 97.3% chance you still have a flip phone.

What are the advantages of dealing with a local? Credit? Keeping everything cash only?

Freaking locals.
I haven’t had a local since college 20 years ago. Once I discovered online what was the point? Online was a great way to keep me from betting beyond my means in my 20s

loan shark guy and few bookies are always around my OTB and My local poker games. My guys all use pay per head sites and $200 is settle amount. They get stiffed all the time by even regulars how then just never come around anymore or until they get $$ to pay. Not like the old days both the sharks and Bookies will put you on a payment plan or settle for less even if you ask

For me, it probably was more than 20 years ago when I had a local. He only took football and basketball bets and only at certain hours on the phone.... Then I found out about the internet...LOL. But still love my flip phone. It's an LG and I don't pay finance charges .

My local used to offer “four-point two-team” football teasers -110.
Me and my buddies in college who just started betting were too dumb to know the difference.

Yup no doubt, I haven't used a local in id say 12 years, When online came around it was better to just lose what I had loaded then trying to get greedy and bet money you didn't have to try and get out for the week then have to pray and hope you hit or than had to ask for payment plans etc. I was 21-22 so money management wasn't the best back then and my degenerates tendencies were waaay worse lol.

25 years ago my local was the skipper who was partners with Steve Stevens for a few years. He was a total piece of shit. The skipper that is. Biggest loser around.
