whats up everyone wanted to start a discussion on here especially for US gamblers with the news that broke out about a specific book on Monday (not trying to make this about that topic) I just wanted to see where peoples thoughts are on other books followong this. Still great books out there and I have nothing but love for heritage, they've been great to me but in my mind I ask myself are they next?? I'm in Illinois so I have the chance to check out the legal sportsbooks and I can tell you right now other then the cash out early option and live betting I am absolutely not a fan. I would love to go back to heritage or try bookmaker but at this point taking a cautious approach. Would definitely like to read other's opinions 👍

#2In Illinois you can sign up for 3 online right now and they all just basically giving free money away huge promo's. Offshore isn't going anywhere there have always been ones that just stop USA or close over the yearsComment -

#3The offshore books who rely heavily on USA customers will need to adjust their business model.
The big ones like CRIS and 5Dimes are already doing that.
But in general I think there will be a demand for offhsores for quite a while yet and it will come back once the US legal market matures.
The point of betting regulation is about controlling your choices and extracting a profit for the state from your betting.
As time goes by and the US licensed books get to critical mass of customers and don't need to "give away money" anymore, you'll come to the realization how good offshore actually was.
And that's coming from someone who lives in Australia under mature legal betting licensing for my entire lifetime.
Serious bettors here have no choice but offshore to get useful amounts down..Comment -

#4I'm also asking myself "Is Heritage next?"
Would be a crippling blow should they follow 5Ds.
Will be praying to the betting gods this doesn't happen.Comment -

#5I just thought about this 2 days ago. Where is the best place to even place a Super Bowl future offshore for a US player. Many states still do not have sports gambling yet, and some don't have it online but they do brick and mortar.
My guess would be find a book that has mostly non-US players but allows US players to play. For example, too bad Pinnacle doesn't allow US players.
This is a good thread and hopefully we can get some good opinions. Should help many of us.Comment -

#7This 5Dimes fiasco sets precedence for futures bets. No way we should ever place a futures bet offshore again. Stretches the envelope too much. Biggest mess since the correlated parlay voids 6 months after the bet was over.
It is like a road map on how to screw players.Comment -

#8The bottomline is you have to deal with Bookmaker. I fart around with Heritage and Bovida like everyone else. But bookmaker is the gold standard. Not the best bonuses, not the best lines and not the best selection....just the best overall.Comment -

In your opinion, do you think any other offshores will exit the US market like 5D in the near future?
I would be pretty bummed if we started losing some of these great offshore options...Comment -

#11In the near term I think the offshore books will do fine. Most Americans don't have access to legal online books, books still have non-US customers, and many bettors who do have access to legal books prefer offshore books for a variety a reasons. Also, I think that gamblers are willing to bet more as the coronavirus has limited other entertainment activities.
In the medium and long-term I think the reputable books will see a consolidation. As books like 5dimes go away, that will mean more customers for the other offshore operations. IMO in 5 years there will be fewer reputable shops, but those that remain will still have plenty of customers due to decreased competition offshore.Comment -

#12I like Bookmaker. Experienced players do fine there. 5 Dimes has responded to phone calls and emails and their cs has been doing their job as instructed. Bookmaker is not bubbling over with cs.Comment -

#13I thought Sports Interaction was going to flounder after they only started accepting Canadians, but they've done well for years. Whereas a book like The Greek bled a slow death without the US market.
Like Optional said it's all about the business model.Comment -

But they are the safest book out there. They are not interested in high maintenance players but their money and morals are good.Comment -

#16appreciate the thoughts on the matter, 5dimes spoiled me with teaser options and have had much success betting them on football over the years when i saw these "awesome" apps like fan duel and draft kings only offer 7 point teasers damn near cried. I will most likely switch over to bookmaker thanks again for the feedback!Comment
