I've been making bets on the presidential election since March -June on Biden to win. The lines I got ranged from +125 to -105. It's roughly $7,000 to win $8,000. I am not rich. I considered this to be more of a investment with a calculated risk.

And now 5dimes tells me that all of my bets are null and void and I'll be returned my stake. The very best odds atm on other sites is Biden at -130. Assuming I win, this is going to cost me thousands of dollars.

Can you imagine the derision I would be met with if I called 5dimes and told them I changed my mind and wanted to void all of my bets? This one is really a gut punch....

If 5dimes had any integrity, they would honor their future bets, but that ain't the industry we're dealing with it is it?

You lost value based on the market price, and so did I, but consider the alternative. Before the bets were just hanging in limbo. I was expecting 5dimes to just hang on to them until the deadline to withdraw and what happened next was anybody's guess. Of course, we'd rather have our bets stand, have them win, and then get paid our winnings, but given the circumstances having them cancelled in time to withdraw our balances is the best we could hope for.

Neither yet. I logged in yesterday and got the standard message that they were suspending their US operations. I then started a chat session. The lady (who was really nice) told me that my money would be placed by in the available funds section "soon." I pressed for what "soon" meant and she said by today or by the end of the weekend. We shall see....

Alright, well, all of my funds have now been moved to available to bet. I went a little crazy yesterday and ran it up to $8,000 from $7,000. Had the cowboys won, it would've been $9500. Looks like I may turn into a dime bettor for the next week or so! lololololol

Interesting story: I won $100,000 after taxes from two poker tournaments in 2009 from Full Tilt and then an in person tournament at the Borgota. I then proceeded to bet $15,000 on the LSU vs Penn State bowl game. LSU made a goal line stand to win the bet. When I went to the book in Vegas to get paid, they were such DICKS. I can't even remember the book now. It was close to Treasure Island....maybe Caeasar's or something, I dunno. Anyways, the manager aggressively told me that I would not be paid unless I showed identification. I countered that I didn't have to show ID when I made the bet, why now? He wouldn't even discuss it. He said show me your driver's license or get the f*** out of here. Is this normal operating procedure????

Yes, that is normal operating procedure. They are required to file a notice to the IRS for any payout over $X (I don't remember the exact number), and you definitely were far over X.

They have safeguards against money-laundering and that's one of them, so don't take it personally.

There's a reason professional pollsters call people rather than count yard signs. That reason will become clear to you when Biden wins Minnesota.
