If that is not fake it sure looks like some sort of legal intervention.

The domain did not expire and there would not be many other explanations for that specific message.

Maybe spam or breach of terms complaints could do it as well I suppose.

The owners of stake.com for the long haul, should have chosen a domain with a .eu or .ag etc. ending...... never choose a .com ending for a sports betting site.
