Bookmaker - Dispute over Corona related cancellation of bets
As I already indicated in another thread, I have a problem with Bookmaker over some bets which (in my opinion incorrectly) were cancelled by them after a Corona related modification of a cycling race.

Before the start of the event, I placed five overall matchups on the cycling race Paris-Nice, which was supposed to take place over a period of 8 days. During the race (before the start of stage 6) the organisers announced, that the race would be shortened to 7 stages, with the final day called off:

After consultation with the relevant authorities, The Union Cycliste Internationale and the Ville de Nice, the organisers of Paris-Nice have decided that 7th st

The race then finished after stage 7 (with Schachmann as the overall winner, including a podium presentation and stuff), and the organiser, as well as the cycling govering body UCI, published an official result (Final Classification -> General Classification):

Or also available on any other cycling website, like Cyclingnews (scroll down to "General Classification):

All my selections finished ahead in the standings, but Bookmaker voided all five bets, claiming their "score provider" told them the race had been "cancelled", (so far) unwilling to have another look into this.

I checked their rules for cases like this, and they only say "If any game, match or event is delayed before it has reached the point where it can be considered an official result for betting purposes, all wagers have no action unless the event is resumed within a specific amount of time."

There is no further clarification at what point an "official result" becomes an "official result for betting purposes" in a cycling race, but the rules for "Other Sports" say "all bets will be decided on the official results declared by that particular sport's (or event's) governing body." - and as I pointed out above, an official result most surely exists.

A month ago, the same thing happened in the cycling race "UAE Tour" (final two days were cancelled after a positive corona case), and back then Bookmaker graded all GC bets normally, based on the official result.

Also in this case now, Pinnacle (for comparison) has settled all bets as normal - so those bets should surely be graded as winners by Bookmaker as well, shouldn't they?!

    bookmaker has weird cycling rules

they graded matchups of mine a few years ago as a LOSS even though my guy never started... never got fixed... so i guess if you see a guy withdraw from a cycling event, bet against him in the matchups.

good luck, i think you're right that those should count, it was shortened not cancelled

yeah, fortunately they meanwhile have clarified this, the rules now state that both competitors have to start for a cycling matchup to count.

But talking with them about potentially incorrectly graded cycling bets (or basically also any other niche sports) always tends to be extremely frustrating indeed, as you usually end up with a chat support who knows nothing about the sport, forwarding messages to/from a wagering department, that doesn't know much about the sport either, but just copies odds from elsewhere.

If you send in a sportsbook complaint form with your account and bet details we can ask a manager to review this for you.

yeah, thanks. I was told I could send an e-mail to the wagering department if I like, so that's what I did, but if I don't get a reply till tomorrow (and usually they are not to keen to answer to emails), I will also send in a complaint.

Meanwhile Bookmaker has replied to my e-mail, but unfortunately still claiming that "no official winner was declared on the Paris-Nice, therefore overall match-ups have no action".

No idea where they got this information from, but it is completely incorrect, as I pointed out above. I've therefore sent in a complaint now, hoping that SBR can be of help to get this sorted out.

Can you please post a link to the official sporting body website that shows confirmed results?

sure, the official sporting body for Cycling is the Union Cycliste Internationale, UCI. On their website you can find all official results, including the one for Paris-Nice:

Road cycling latest news, details, rankings, calendar, results

                  -> Paris-Nice -> Final Classification -> General Classification

As you can see, they have a full result for this, including UCI Points (500 for the overall winner) and stuff.

Here is also the document issued by the race (only in French unfortunately), which confirmed that the winner of the overall ("Le vainqueur du 78e Paris-Nice") will be presented at the end of stage 7:

That all looks good to me.

Have you heard back from a dispute agent that we are contacting them for you yet?

Edit: Bookmaker has reviewed the situation and adjusted the grading.

                          Hi infotimbo,

Thanks for sharing. We're reviewing with Bookmaker mgt - please give some time for the claim to be analyzed.

thanks a lot for your help. I haven't heard back from Bookmaker, but they have manually added all profits to my account now (:
