What protection is there for players in Caribbean and Asian books?
I am a player in the UK, and for player funds here and in Australia there is legal protection for players.
In Europe there are various regulators, Malta having been corrupt at least until recently, as evidenced by the Betchance scam involving Mario Galea. Alderney seems a bit iffy too, based on a ruling they gave on a casino case, although that was possibly more due to incompetence than bias.
When there is a problem with a Caribbean book, SBR can be counted on to help with advocacy, but does a player here in Europe have any recourse in law or via any reasonably independent regulatory body if a Caribbean sportsbook cheats them?
I would like to ask the same question for asian books such as 12bet and 188bet.
I am not in any kind of trouble, but would like to know the lie of the land before I make any more large deposits to Caribbean books.

    There is no protection. None.

But if you have a dispute most books will at least speak with SBR, where as many Euro Books won't at all.

In my experience, there is no real legal recourse if one of these sports books decide to steal from you. Your best option is to play only at high rated books listed here at SBR and then, should a problem arise, SBR can usually assist you. Good question and I hope you never find any problems where you are not treated fairly and certainly never get stolen from.

      Best wishes

if you are in UK there is almost no reason to play in Caribbean based books as you can play in pinnacle or betfair.
Asian books are entering european market more and more every year. I believe that sbobet and 188bet already have european licences... nor sure about mansion88 but maybe they have a gibraltar licence

Leaving aside the minor problem that betfair sucks (rarely the best market price after commission, and if you win they try take ginormous premium charges off you), pinnacle doesn't always have the best price for US sports.

It is not fun trying to work with most Euro books.

I feel comfortable stating that if a player has a legitimate beef with a top book, in almost all cases SBR will be able to help, whereas some of these Euro books you are really at the mercy of the sportsbook.

There was a dispute with one of the top Euro books where a player absolutely blasted management with an obscenity laced tirade, his account was abruptly closed while funds were still in there. He received no response for days until a betting governing body with influence over the shop got involved.
