    Bwin - BE CAREFUL!
    Hi All,

My first post here and it ain't good news!

I opened an account with Bwin with £20 (they credited my account with another £20 free - signup bonus)

    I placed a bet for £20 - it lost

I placed a 2nd bet for £20 - it won, giving me an account balance of £95

I tried to place a 3rd bet for £20 only to find a box popup telling me my betting limit was £1.

I contacted 'customer service', waited 4 hours for a reply, which basically said for 'security reasons' my betting limit had been lowered.

I asked 'what security reasons'? - they replied that I was not entitled to know the reasons!!

So, I asked for a withdrawal of the £95 (12/1/09) and I'm still waiting. (I don't expect to get it because of their wagering requirements - but I'm hoping!)

    BE WARNED!!!

    Bill

    Gemini,

fill out a complaint and we'll look at it. Bwin has to deal with rampant attempts at fraud due to their 100% bonus structure on small deposits. If everything is on the up and up, you'll get paid.

First off, Welcome to the SBR forum

Bwin is well known for putting a collar on it's players rather fast, so I can't say I'm surprised by that factor at all. However my guess would be theirs more too this than you are failing to mention. Please feel free to fill out a complaint form and one of us will inquire on your behalf to find out all the details surround their actions.

I'm not failing to mention anything - my first post is EXACTLY what happened.

          2 bets - 1 loser - 1 winner, and a betting limit imposed, That's what happened,

          Bill

            Hey Bill,

The same thing they did to me, and Ive also got a 1 Eur limit! Only with me the steps were 50-10-1, that 1 Eur limit came a couple of minutes after I won on a horse race and won around 70-80 with my max 10 Eur limit, 5 minutes later I could only bet 1 Eur!

And their ('customer service') whatever they say it is, takes very long to answer questions. Before when they didnt limited my it only took them 1 day max to reply, now its 3 days min...if your lucky that is!
And ofcourse they gave me the exact same answer about why I could only bet 10 or 1...(security reasons?).
They could not tell me what those security reasons are, discussion closed, Signed Bwin's ''customer (service) (what service?)''!

I hope you will get your money soon!

              Hi,
Does look like a really dodgy bookie!

I agree, their customer service is a laugh, takes ages for a reply to tell you absolutely nothing.

Hey, at least they limited you in stages - wham, I'm down to £1 immediately the horse won!

The annoying part about this is the fact that as punters we have no protection from these practices apart from the efforts of the guys on here!

I'll be happy with my money back and never use this lot (Bwin) ever again!

Hope it turns out OK for you too.

              Bill

Just a quick update on this Bwin problem:-

My withdrawal request still hasn't been paid - I've uploaded my passport scan as requested and am still waiting.

The really annoying thing here is - I deposited with paypal, yet they need my photo ID to be able to repay my paypal account!

Lucky that ebay doesn't work like this with paypal - can you imagine the grief it would cause?

I suspect Bwin are either gross incompetents or completely bent!

                    Many thanks for your support!!

Well, amazingly they've actually paid me!!

I'd still very much like to know why they imposed a £1 betting limit on my account - it's obvious now that it had nothing to do with verifying my account, my ID or any other identity reason.

I'm very interested in the results of SBR's investigation into Bwins' reasons for doing it.

                    Bill

How and who do I inform here that I've received payment but still would like my complaint pursued about the betting limit?

                      Thanks in advance.

                        Bill,

There's not much we can do about your betting limit. Sportsbooks are free to limit their players, as long as they don't keep you from your money.

                          OK, many thanks Justin.

I'll just keep well away from them!

                          Thanks again,
