If I have a player who is booking me and I am the book..thats a problem..the game still has to be played but he has the edge..if he tosses me aroung like the salad I ate last night I respectfully pass on his business..I say if someone has all the answers they have the edge..

when you guys say limited to 50 or 10, does this mean you can continuously make that bet.. every x seconds or so.. or 50 in total? seems crazy, who could bet so little?

              Thats the problem.

There are thousands and thousands of sharp players and only a few bookmakers who actually know what they are doing.

Its obvious that you aren't and will never be one.

I bet some more steam today. They put me on a 60 second timer.

About a half hour later they closed my account, I had to call and talk to a manager to get it reopened. Was on hold for like 15 minutes. Apparently I made an acct there about a year or so ago, but I had never used it to wager etc. So apparently they JUST discovered this, and wanted to make sure I only have one acct with them.

I went 4-0 tonight in hoops, suddenly at 11:30 PM my acct is closed again. I called, but I have to call back and speak to a manager tomorrow during the day to get it reopened. I asked why my account is being closed in the middle of the night if there are no managers working. I never got an answer. Site is rated an A- right? They are pretty frivolous with the account closings/reopenings/closings for being an A- book.

I guess betting steam is a crime, and actually winning at sportsbetting is a mortal sin. Even at A- books.
Can confirm all of the above. Win 4 in a row and you are a genius to BOL. goodbye and cya!!

I'm speaking only from personal experience of course, but these books have been the quickest to limit me:

                        1) Bet365 (By far the quickest...)
                        2) 5Dimes
                        3) Will Hill
                        4) Betonline
                        5) SportBet
                        6) Stan James
                        7) LadBrokes

Probably in that order as well and I was giving them all steady action. I've used literally dozens of books over the last 12 years or so and others have eventually knocked down my maximum wager, but this is what I would call the "Panicky Group"...Anyway, it's their business models so I cant complain, but there it is.....

this is probably a stupid question but what exactly is steam....here is a multiple choice scenario...

                            a. you carefully watch the lines at all the books and notice that the lines change at leading books A and B so you quickly put money down at book C before the line changes there too.

                            b. you watch your book all week but you always, always ONLY put your wagers down 5-10 mins before gametime because you only like to wager on the closing numbers.

                            c. youve had a number in mind all week but it has not been offered. then, 15 mins before gametime, at your preferred book C, the number changes to the one you have been waiting for. you quickly put your money down at this new number. NOTE that this number changed after a couple of other leading books A and B changed their number first, although this is not something you were paying attention to directly as you only play at book C.

                            d. im clueless and need a better explanation

So which one of these is steamplay?

I know they are normally limit you very fast. But I never do this "arbitrage" bets. I only do live betting on cricket, sometimes snooker, sometimes tennis, with a maximum stake of 200 Euro.

Your definition of business isn't a business, its trying to scam people out of money.

Cutting limits and putting in time delays are just excuses for books who are too lazy to run efficiently. The number of such books gets bigger and bigger everyday. It really amazes me. If you have a line posted at a certain price, you should be willing to take action on it...period. If I go into Walmart and they are selling something at a price well below market and I purchase it...they don't tell me to GTFO.

The main thing I dont get is how books are so horrible with steam. I am one person...I have to track hundreds of lines across dozens of sites. I manage to do this successfully yet huge ass books like Greek can't? Are you ****ing kidding me??

People on this forum in general defend books way too much.

Aside from pinnies, wsex, greek, sbo, ibc and 188, pretty much all the rest limit/boot winners pretty quickly. It's just a question of time.

I got a call from DSI the other day when they canceled one of my winning dupes and he retorted, "If we have you limited, why would we let you hit the line again?" I refrained from pointing out that they are helping to put my children through school and pay my rent, ergo it'd be impossible for to delve into the mind of an idiot.

If that's a problem for them, they need to fix the software to track an accumulated total stake on a game, and reject your second (third fourth) bet if it exceeds their limit on the game. Some of these places have crap software and it should not be upon the player to police these things. I am sure you would not have heard back if you lost.

Book the bet, pay the bet.

You said the number of books booting/limiting was growing. I refuted that by pointing out it's the norm for all but 5/6 books (in other words not a new thing).

I don't understand this limiting at all... I turned $2500 into $32,000 in less than 4 months at 5dimes, sometimes winning up to 6k on one fight, and never heard a word from them...Never was limited or booted or anything like that

Betsafe limited me to about 3 euro. My fault because that day I made a first withdrawal. Now this account is useless for me. Pity

Damian, I had a very similar experience with 5Dimes in early 2007. I couldn't be stopped (Well, at their site anyway) as I was running up quite the balance and withdrawing thousands at will. Then it all came to a crashing halt when my account was locked and the entire balance sent to my Neteller account. Maybe there is some sort of $$ threshold that one must pass, at which point 5Dimes pulls the plug, but I'm only guessing...

i certainly don't doubt what other guys are saying , but my situation is closer to damian, i started with 300 and got up to 11000 over 4 months, i always got paid , and back then they had western union and moneygram upto 2500,
maybe it is because i play teasers and i am considered just lucky , not sure what the magical formula is , but my limited dealing with 5dimes has been good

Obviously they just don`t like arb punters like most other books.

It seems that 5dimes has a high enough threshold for me. I'm a small time player, though I've seen some books cap really low, so I had a bit of concern.

If whatever formula/method they use to analyse your bet patterns is not detecting any edge, they're essentially concluding you will probably lose some/all of that back to them. Whether that judgement is correct or not is another matter......

Unfortunately, we have come to the conclusion that, as a business decision, we must now decrease your bet limits to 25% due to questionable excessive winnings for a recreational sportsbook account. This is part of our random continued security and fraud protection regarding online gaming practices.

It has been determined by Sports Interaction Management that your earnings with us are now approaching a limited allowable income on an account. As such, we’ve reduced your limits. Please take note that this decision is final on behalf of Sports Interaction Management. Should these limits be revised, we will advise you via email.

We thank you for your understanding in this matter.

At Betsafe I usually only can bet 1 to 4 dollars but sometimes I can bet 12 dollars (after careful consideration of the risk departement of course, usually takes about 20 mins to decide) But I will continue to send in requests until they realize it costs them more to read my requests than to let me bet.

I have always thought that Ladbrokes was a site for high rollers, but probably they are not. I dont bet more than 300 dollars on any game and mostly only 100. My limits at Ladbrokes are now 7-15 dollars. So the list of ridiculous and/or crooked limiting.

                                                                      1. Interwetten 5000 points (because of limiting so u cant fulfil the rollover requirement)
                                                                      2. Betsafe 2000 points (u have to send a request every time u want to bet more than 5 dollars)
                                                                      3. Ladjokes 1500 points (pretending to be a site for high rollers and limiting amateurs to 7 dollars)
                                                                      4. 10Bet 1400 points (sometimes u can send many 15 dollar bets after waiting for one minute)
                                                                      5. Bwin 65 points (usually limits at 100 dollars)
                                                                      6. Sportingbet 50 points (can only bet 100 dollars a game)

These havent imposed any limits Bet365, Expekt, Betsson, Unibet, Nordicbet, Betway, Legends, Pinnacle and Boylesports.

Maybe we should use the same rule as some crooked bookies do, when we sell stocks.

If the stock falls we are happy. If it goes up we cancel the deal, because the buyer was obviously a professional and caused us harm, so then according to our rules, which is final and can not be disputed, we will take the stocks back.

Agree. They don't want you betting steam there and they're pretty clear about that. They're also pretty quick to cut your reduced juice limit from $500 to $50. That said, if you bet everything else, you shouldn't have a problem. If those restrictions aren't ok with you, you can take your action elsewhere.
Both of these guys are mistaken about 5 Dimes.

As soon as you hit $20,000 in profit, 5 Dimes AUTOMATICALLY cuts your limits by 50%. It doesn't matter if you hit their props or regular straight action. Once your limits get cut, your account is put on a watch list and is subject to automatic review each and every time you request a withdrawal.

The chances are quite strong that once your limits get initially cut, more limit cuts are sure to follow.

After 3 limit reductions, Tony decided to block the horse racing section of my account even though I was down a ton of money betting horses at 5 Dimes.

However, this problem was solved quite easily as I have a lot of friends who gamble and I had them open up their own accounts.
