I'll miss the World Cup. The easy money. I seriously doubt if there is another tournament, other than perhaps the Euro, where it is so simple to distinguish between hype and reality. Much of the beauty is in the clash of cultural thinking, with the English taking the cake for a stunning lack of understanding this game at an international level (without realizing it, of course). Keep up the good work! The international media played a huge role in creating value. The way they painted Germany as a great team, and even favorite for the title, after a couple of high scoring games, was wonderful square thinking. They never analyzed why Germany had looked so good, and the public ate it wholesale. I'll miss the World Cup, and the gazillions of people forming an opinion about a sport who normally don't. It was great relaxation, excellent for the holidays. If only the NFL were this easy. Sad thing is that, 25 years ago, it probably was...

#2You just have to find your niche.
Of course the Premier League for example will never be as proftitable as the WC. But there are opportunities out there in lesser known leagues. Personally I'm looking forward to the start of the season in Germany's 3rd division as this is 'my' league where I expect to have an advantage over the books.Comment -

#3We seriously should make some 3rd division threads so we can share our research and make better more calculated plays. I was really surprised how many underdogs hit last year, not just by luck but by big goal margins like 2-4 goals.Comment -

#44 more years fellahs, we've endured worst things...
I agree with you Dark Horse, but it's easy money for some, harder for others. This World Cup easy shots came after the first elimination round, Last 16 and quarter finals specially. Thank God tho, we'll be having plenty of action starting last days of this month all around the globe, I myself will have time to recover. Good luck to you sir and for all of the readers as well.

#7Yeah I did solid. Spain paid off my pre-tourney bet, and there were a lot of easy ones along the way, like Germany getting +money and putting up 4 goals multiple times.. Waiting for 2014..Comment -

#8The final was one hell of a snooze fest. Nearly 120 minutes! I can watch a good movie in that time span or do something constructive. What a joke and they actually call it the beautiful game. Seriously how did both Netherlands and Spain made it to the final? They looked so amateurish. Robben reminded me of Zidane in that 06 final. Don't get me started with that referee. It was supposed to be a corner kick off of that free kick. That changed the game as Spain scored the winning goal from there. Of course I am damn sore. I had my largest wager yet on Netherlands. In hindsight I should have just taken Netherlands +0.5. I got greedy and took Netherlands to win the whole thing instead. But whatever. If I didn't know any better I would have thought that a high school soccer team was playing against another high school soccer team.
The world cup needs to be abolished.Comment -

#11Forlan's shot off the bar in the 92nd minute was epic. Johon I saw you say Honda in another thread but I don't think anyone had the feel for the ball like Forlan. Forlan did it consistantly, game after game, just wow bro. You know who the real world class players are by who shows up during the World Cup.Cause Sleep is the Cousin of DeathComment -

Much as I am confident in Barca for the coming season (especially with the addition of Villa) I can't help but feel uneasy about Mourinho's move to Madrid. It is unlikely that Madrid will play beautiful football under Mourinho but they will certainly play effective football.Comment -
