i've seen that happen in this world cup several times.

He is their older forward. Since Suarez who is young didn't play Forlan had to run much more than previous games. After 85 minutes he was gassed.

Inter gave them that game. Crespo was unstoppable for Inter and Gerrard led Liverpool back. That was a great game.

The Uruguay coach IMO was the best in the WC, if he decides to take Forlan out at such a crucial moment it had to be something like fatigue. Without Suarez you can imagine how much work Forlan was doing for his team's offense in those 85 minutes

Forlan is not running past anyone. He has made a career of hanging out near the defensive back line. He is not as athletic as Suarez but more a an ASSISAN with his right foot in front of the net. This guy cannot create time and space on his own.
