well then maybe you guys can teach me because I cannot bet a sport I do not know about, even by just knowing the market and following line movement- it will only get you so far.

For example, I can see how someone can be successful in the regular season of the NBA doing this. But when the playoffs and finals roll around, it is the people that don't know about the game that get buried and people that just follow line movement that lose in the playoffs. The finals of the nba has nothing to do with knowing the market, its about knowing the game.

The finals of the nba has nothing to do with knowing the market, its about knowing the game.

Your response is something that I have heard all my life when I try to explain how I approach wagering. The funny thing is that most of those responding to me were unprofitable and yet, they were trying to tell me I had to approach it the way they did.

I have no doubt that you can be profitable by using your knowledge of the game but don't let that blind you into thinking that is the only way that one can be profitable. Just because I approach it differently does not deny that you can also be profitable and vice-versa.

For me, playoffs have always been easy pickings because I "know" (make extremely good guesstimates) of what the future markets will be given the various playoff scenarios. From that info I can usually find +EV set-ups worthy of play.
