I'm from Canada and I have to agree with you about the passion Aussies have for sports - it's a great place to live in if you're a sports fan and the fact they do so well for such a small country makes it that much better! But you can take solace in this - as much as I love this country, my son will go to school in Canada. The Australian government spends a lot of money on sports whereas the Canadian government focuses on education. It's a trade-off I guess. Hopefully some day both countries can achieve more of a balance without jeopardising its current success so these two 'tiny' nations can begin to dominate both athletically and scholastically! Best of luck today

i agree with you shari. the aussies are pretty solid down back and verbeek will have them well drilled and im sure they will be aiming for a draw in this one, a very real possibility. Go the green and gold!

Hewitt led the way by toppling Federer a little while ago in the finals at Halle and now the Socceroos are going to continue the David and Goliath story. It's going to be a great day in Australia!!

Everyone is on Germany and Germany is a name team so thats all I need to know to jump on the Socceroos +1 +105. Gotta go under 2 1/2 until these teams figure out how to kick this Adidas ball too

Yeah, I think it will be for me. Going to have a shower soon to keep me going. I ended up having a nap for an hour or two so I'm feeling pretty good but between this match and the Lakers game I'm going to be caned. Good thing I have a baby to keep me in practice or I'd probably be passed out by now.

Otherwise i really like the aussies, after they've been blatantly killed by the ref against Italy in the last WC, even more. But not this game, Germany is Germany it will be way to hard.
I really believe they will qualify

Australia have a good chance on the handicap, +1 to be safe, if your feeling brave +0.5 and if you had enough Fosters on the ML

                          Australia are being underrated.

Cashed on Ghana, leaning Aussies on the handicap, this could be a good game.

The only way i see Australia scoring is a cahill header from a set piece, and they shouldn't get many within range of the goal because they will be in their own half for most of the game. I'm leaning under at the moment but if germany get an early goal it could be disastrous.

Need to win our last 2 games and Tim Cahill is suspended. We're going to need a miracle against Ghana tonight.
After copping it in the media, lets hope Verbeek picks a striker or two this time .. since we have to score goals now

Kewell, Bresciano, Holman and Kennedy should have played against Germany. You don't change the structure of the lineup overnight and expect them to perform. I'm optimistic we can pull off a win thanks to a Ghana own goal.

This is one I marked after their opening debacle as one to take ... Australia PK/+0.5 against Ghana. The whole world believes they're going to get crushed again. I don't see it. Yeah, Ghana has a solid attack but this is a team that hasn't scored more than one goal in their ten matches in 2010. I think if old Pim makes better selections for this match, they will play with pride and bounce back with a solid match. They remind me a lot of the Greeks in that their media buried them and look what happened against an African side ... yeah the red card did Nigeria in, but I guess my point is that you can't count out any team here. Ghana is not a team that just shows up and wins. They still have to work their asses off. If Australia starts strong, I think this match is going to be close and surprise some people. Probably the same people who lost money on Germany today.

I think the Aussies get at least a draw here....they are not as bad as they played in the last game and should come out in their best form for this game. It seems as though most teams who performed poorly in their first match have come back better in the 2nd.

I so badly wanted to go into those Germany threads after that game and try to explain that their four goal win wasn't a reflection of their greatness but a result of the quality of the Aussie team. Instead I sat back and I'm glad I did. It's nice to see people get brought back down to Earth a little bit.

But yeah, I think illusion's right. Time for me to go buy some fish and chups and hope NZ gets another point because this team is in trouble. Hopefully they can pull out a draw tonight.
