Italy, Brazil, France, Germany, Mexico, England, Spain, France, Korea/Japan (shady politics involved), etc...

You have a point but most of them have been countries who won the WC already.

It's probably the toughest group, even though everyone calls Brazil's group the group of death. I have Mexico winning this group, so South Africa has to probably upset France who failed to go past the Group in 2002. Honestly I think it has to be a huge upset/political conspiracy for SA to make it.

If 80 years f history had to end somewhere, it would probably be the perfect time. GL

Nice odds on this bet, but I would be stunned if South Africa advance from this really though group. But good luck if you decide to play it, I personally think Mexico and Uruguay are the two best teams in the group.

Pretty stupid just to assume that because host nations have advanced every year that SA will this year. They are all independent events. Also the world cup has only been structured like it is now for the past 4 I think, it was a different structure before this.
In addition to this world cup hosts have generally been very good footballing countries, with the exception of SK and Japan.

I think it's actually pretty moronic to bet on SA advancing because of the said reasons, you've found a trend which means relatively nothing. If this was actually a relevent trend then the book would list them as a favourite to progress rather than a dog.

A lot of people i've been talking to about the WC I guess you could say are "overrating" RSA and this thread is a perfect example. South Africa has NO CHANCE of making out of this group without help from the higher ranking society. I can got France winning Group A even with a poor performance to even qualify. The Mexico/Uruguay match on June 22nd will be the most important match in this Group and I believe its going to be the battle of second place. Please don't put your money on South Africa getting to the Round of 16, +187 odds are terrible odds they should be atleast +300 and beyond that.

South Africa are a joke team, they aint getting anywhere near the 2nd stage IMO - They might get a draw against Mexico in the opener, just because of the occasion of the first game of the tournament, but they will get pounded by France and Uruguay without scoring a goal.
