that has to rank as one of the luckiest wins of my gambling career.

no way a Draw should have hit in that one.

many apologies to the folks that got fukked in the arse on it. no reason to quit gambling, you were on the right side.

Puyol and Pique missing next match for Barca... Barca dominated but Arsenal showed they actually have a chance in this tie. Happy I stayed away what a entertaining match though.

big mistake by pep, he went defensive and gave arsenal confidence.

but really, who thought arsenal would get back in it.

Its CL...anything can happen in this competition, especially at the present stage and on. Your money is not safe there.

                        On to the next one!

New on here, was never a big fan of soccer but the last 2 weeks wagering on it has made me a fan. And this forum in absolutely wonderful. I had injected with Barca -1/2 at the half and was counting my money late (big mistake to the gamlbing gods) Question for you guys, was that red card warranted and what makes the difference in a player recieving a red card vs a yellow card?

No, from the replay it should not have warranted a red, but referees don't have the luxury of instant replay. Puyol was just standing his position, unbeknownst, when Fabregas swung his leg which got caught up between Puyól's legs. Since the ref believed Puyol intentionally fouled him, and there was a direct scoring chance, it's considered a professional foul and hence shown the red. Professional fouls typically occur within the 18 yard box or if there is a clear breakaway and the player is fouled intentionally.

They can also be given for dangerous and deliberate tackles or for deliberately handling the ball. For example, something as serious as sliding into your opponent with your studs up will typically warrant a red card. Less severe tackles would usually produce yellow cards. Everything is up to the referee's discretion as to whether he wants to produce a card, whether it's yellow or red. A lot of times, it's influenced by the reaction of the player fouled (a lot of acting) himself, teammates reaction to the foul and the crowd...tough job being a football ref as he can change the game significantly in such cases.

If this doesn't help, I'm sure you could find the exact rules and regulations on the UEFA website.

I think you guys are over thinking this.

What happened was simple - ref got the call that Arsenal needed to draw - hence he gave em a free PK.

...then to put the cherry on top, ref gives Pujols a RC to cut Barca down to 10 men - giving them a slim chance of getting a late 90+ min game-winning goal, which they are much capable of with Messi on the field.

Pujols did absolutely nothing to Fabregas, and a RC for THAT? - its just the way the script was written

Professional foul = automatic red card. No overthinking....just the rules.

Yeah - whats worse - it was good acting on BOTH parts, not just Fabregas, but the ref as well

Doesn't really matter, Barcelona can't be stopped by Arsenal at the Camp Nou. Wenger is such a bad tactician, just ghastly and stubborn.
