diving is an art in Italy, and like with most art's Italy excels... truth is if you don't go down, you don't get calls. Anyone that has played the game knows this first hand.

haven't watched a game since sphagetti man was brought down by a shadow in the box when playing OZ in the World Cup in 2006 leading to a penalty from a visually challenged man in black. Italy get an undeserved last minute win when down a man and looking cooked. they then go on to win the World Cup. fuk 'em all I say

Hello fixxer. First I want to state that I'm a huge Premier League fan - just for the record.

However I think this is one of the big myths of modern football. Perhaps it's more common in the leagues of southern Europe to do small things to waste time, but the big divers are everywhere now. Look at Gerrard, Torres, Drogba, formerly Ronaldo, Ashley Young, Rooney. All big players that dive. The list can be made long and it's easy to find on the YouTube.

Last night's game did incense me as well because I think Inter behaved badly, but how the English have managed to keep this reputation as being fair is beyond me.

that was fukking horrid. okay, so you can't do video replay to slow the game down, why don't they just get a team together to review game film and anyone guilty of excessive diving gets a red card or a 2 game suspension. shit would stop real quick.

Renaldo was flopping like a fish in WC '06, i hated it.

This is crazy shit even for me as an Azzurri admirer who has seen quite some good acting.

This ref was really ****ed up to five Pen. in that situation. Side ref did also "great" job with the flag just hanging.

Can't believe they actually gave a penalty there.

Until they implemented mandatory straight reds and multi-game suspensions for diving and actually dole some out, the reward for diving will far outweigh the consequences.

There is divers everywhere. I think the common thinking that only Italians dive is not true. People think this way because Italian football has been (was, I say was because their game plan has changed during last decade drastically) nothing much to watch for untrained eye - to see beauty in excellent defense is not that everybody can achieve. This made the game boring for those and people did not like them. What happened - they got their fourth star on the Jersey. THis even got the tings worse for the Italian haters. I know many people who don´t care who will win as long as it´s not Italy.

The number of these shitty situations can be brought down also by additional referees to my mind. Add an extra to the sides and there is improvement already.

i was just thinking this same thing last night. what is the square yardage of the pitch? i've seen so many games recently i can't remember which it was, but a guy was attacking and got taken down right before the half about 5 yards from the goal and the ref didn't call a foul. and on the highlight, you can see the ref is like 50 yards away and couldn't see if there was contact or not.

seriously, if the NHL has 4 refs on an rink, why can't Futbol get a 2nd ref and each could patrol one side of the pitch.

of course criminal elements would have to pay another guy off to fix matches, but so be it.
