You're very right! The books NEVER lose! I just feel so bad that I didn't take a shot at USA 1H +700. I normally like to bet on modest teams as 1H underdogs of +500 and above.

It was +1500, I didn't have the balls to play it, but I must say I was comfortable about my +1.5 WAGER

After the USA beats South Africa we will be dancing in the streets

Soccer in the states will always be behind but atleast we have a team that can compete.

Wilforth i agree i thought of the first half but anything over 10-1 is value in my eyes .

I was going to go 100 1H and 100 game but decided on the +1100.......

I wish i had some balls to lay 500 or more i used to do this in the world cup and did well many years ago.

I honestly thought the USA would compete against spain and lose 2-1 or 1-0

One of the strangest soccer games I've seen. It was obvious in the first ten minutes that the US hadn't come to pay respect, and that Spain didn't think much of the US team.

But once Spain gained control after the opening minutes and started to play its game I didn't think there was any possibility that they would not win. You just can't overcome that kind of difference in quality with fighting spirit alone. A bunch of third string soccer players aren't going to beat the European champion. Not now. Not ever.

This wasn't a victory of US soccer. They can't play squat. This was a victory of US Spirit. It is amazing what Americans can do when they believe in something, even when nobody else does. Somehow this team woke up to that spirit during this tournament. They won because they fought for every inch. The ball was a mere detail. They defended their territory, with flying tackles that blocked shot after Spanish shot, and in the end, miraculously, the flag was still there.

The message was loud and clear. A half hour before the final whistle, Spanish goleador Torres already let his head hang; the universal sign for 'just one of those days'. The celebrated striker knew then, long before the game was over, that he and his team would not meet the fighting spirit of their opponent.

The second US goal was a prime example of arrogance. Against a respected opponent Ramos would have blasted that ball out of the box. No defender in his right mind is going to stop the ball there, practically on his goal line, and look up to see who to pass it to. He was pick-pocketed like a ten year old. The first goal as well was an unusual mistake by a central defender who was trying to get in front of Altedor, when all he had to do was stay behind him. I believe that this, too, was arrogance. 'I don't need to stay behind (a shitty player like) you, I'll take that ball from you right here and now'. Two absurd defensive mistakes, for this level.

If these teams play each other 100 times, Spain wins 95, and 4 games end in ties. I'm glad I saw the game, because I wouldn't have believed the scoreline just from a headline. I don't know what to think of this US team anymore. They were laughable a month ago, horrible a week ago, by some miracle survive their group, and now they beat Spain...
