Team USA is in rebuilding mode after failing to qualify for the World Cup.
Paraguay compares well. The game is in a very small stadium (under 10k)
and a small crowd is expected. USA star Christian Pulisic is not playing,
he was allowed to stay overseas while playing for Dortmund.
Interim Manager Dave Sarachan plans to let the kids run the game themselves.
"They won’t be overcoached, I can tell you that," Sarachan said.
"We’re going to allow them to make a lot of decisions on the field, and that’s what this is all about."
Here's another Team USA-side article, from their overconfident point-of-view.
La Albirroja are also led by an interim coach, however he intends to coach his team
with an actual plan. The following quote is from a Paraguayan news site:
Paraguay is led temporarily by Gustavo Eliseo Morínigo, who for this occasion cited 21 players, who are eight from the local media and thirteen from the international level. In football practice on Sunday, the coach tested a scheme of four defenders, five midfielders and a single striker, which will be the Ropero Santander. The goal will be occupied by the Kitty Fernandez. The duo of centrals in the background, are composed of Espartano Gómez and Comandante Balbuena. In the middle, Cristian Riveros brings his experience and plays alongside Rodrigo Rojas, while, on the sides, Camacho and Almirón Anguilla will try to overflow by asserting the speed they have.
7:30 pm FS1 or UniMas
I don't believe Paraguay will be in any way alerted or surprised by the rebuilding,
inexperienced Team USA's speed or machismo, if anything, they will be better coached
and more disciplined, ready to take advantage of reckless mistakes USA is sure to commit.
