    Euro 2016 QF Picks
I have my eyes on a few picks, I'll give my reasoning and would love to hear other's opinions on them..

    Poland - Portugal

Poland to Qualify (+150 ) - I'm honestly surprised to see such high odds for this. Portugal has played 4 games so far and disappointed in all of them. The overall strategy of the team seems to be "pass to Ronaldo and maybe something will happen". They lack ambition and willpower, and remind me a lot of the way the England team plays. They are in the QF without a single win in the tournament so far. The Portuguese defense is quite vulnerable, and easy to break when tested. I feel like they have been given way too much credit for their progression vs Croatia, this was the first game in a major tournament since 1980 with ZERO shots on target in 90 minutes, Croatia simply played a horrible game and did not even test the Portuguese defense until extra time, where one of their first attacks ended with a shot against the post. I think this was a huge mistake on their part, as the Portuguese have conceded 3 goals against Hungary and could've easily been broken down if tested. Ronaldo has been sub-par, with his only goals coming against a very vulnerable Hungarian defence (as Belgium so clearly exposed), the rest of the team seems to lack focus and purpose on the field. On the other side, we have a Polish team which conceded one goal in their 4 games at the cup, and managed to get a draw against Germany, which they could've easily beat if Milik had not missed two of the best chances in the game. The Glik Pazdan CB duet has risen to one of the best CB pairs of the tournament. I feel like this will be a game where Portugal will be banging their head on the wall for 90 minutes, trying to score against Poland's solid defence, which will sit back for most of the game. This will expose Portugal in the back which Poland's fast wingers Grosicki and Blaszczykowski will make full use of. Lewandowski is still goalless at the tournament and this could be a game in which he will shine.

    2. Portugal -2 Asian Corner Handicap (+105) - Portugal : (11 - 2 v Iceland, 10 - 0 v Austria, 9 - 3 v Hungary and 2-6 v Croatia) This won in all of the Portugal games by a wide margin, except the game with Croatia. The only difference is that they played defensive football v Croatia, whereas they attacked all the other teams. They were considered favorites in all their games with the exception of the game v Croatia, and this leads me to believe that they will return to attacking in their game with Poland, as they will feel they are favourites in this game. Poland likes to sit back and play on the counter, and I think this pick has a 60-70% chance of winning.

    Germany - Italy

Italy to Qualify ( +150) - Germany shares a lot of characteristics with the Spanish team, most of their players are from Bayern which followed the Guardiola tiki-taka philosophy. Italy loves playing against teams like this, they have the best defense at the tournament and I feel they can even make it to the final. They are incredibly disciplined and love being the underdog. Germany have not convinced me in this tournament with any of their performances. They had 3 very average group stage games, and only scored 3 goals in them. The win against Slovakia was definitely a better performance, however Slovakia is simply a poor team in my opinion in this tournament, they only won one game, against a horrible Russian side. Secondly, that game was set up for Germany from the start with a goal in the first 15 minutes of play. I feel like Italy will impress further, like they did against Spain and manage to qualify here.

    Alternative Picks :

Poland v Portugal - Draw (+200) - I see a pretty large chance of this game being settled in ET or penalties.

    Poland v Portugal - Draw and Under 2.5 (+225)

    Poland or Draw (-151)

    Italy or Draw (-151)

I'm not that confident with the 90 minute wins, although I agree that Italy and Poland are capable of an upset, Wales would need to defend perfectly imo to keep out Belgium, if they do that they have a chance.

I'm with you on the Poland play Mankee. I think they will frustrate portugal and ronaldo. I can see poland edging portugal in a low scoring affair.

I'm not so sure about Italy. (I'm Italian) and for some reason i have a bad feeling about this game. Germany have never defeated Italy in a tournament before. My gut feel is that Germany will finally end their hoodoo.

Edit; Also, Any thoughts on Wales v Belgium?
        I'm liking Wales

        We'll see
        Good luck!

It's definitely possible that Germany will win, in my opinion though Germany and France are both teams which have been riding their luck so far in the tournament, and if Italy play it well I can really see them passing, don't fight with the gut feeling though Belgium v Wales is one of those games I can't find much value in, the Wales qualification pays pretty well, but I think that game will be very tight until the first goal, if Wales concede for 0-1 I think they're done, kinda like Hungary or Ireland, both games were super tight until the first goal, and then they ended 3-0 and 4-0 for Belgium...maybe I'm wrong, but that's my gut feeling.

Italy play the Germans. It's a game fit to be the final. At the quarter final stage. Winner is champ unless France comes to the party

Totally agree, will be hr for all three to win (advance), let alone win in 90 minutes. Liked the spin potential though and may be worried about Poland the most, seems destined for ET, PK Shootout. Made a Futures bet on Iceland at 32/1 for $10 and at +780 to beat France ($20 for $156). Usually a Favorites player.

Gonna go against you here, mate.

                          Portugal V Poland

I think Portugal have enough to get through here. I understand that they haven't won a game through the whole tournament, and yet, here they are in the QF with a chance to advance one game off a European Championship match. I watched the Portugal and Hungary match and I was devastated for the Portuguese in how they gave up their goals. Two extremely lucky deflections to leave the keeper stranded, you can bet that won't happen too many more times. As for Poland, I think they're just a pest of a team that hasn't really showed anything through this tournament either. You failed to mentioned that the European qualifier leading goalscorer hasn't fired a shot all tournament and looks to be out of sync with his team mates. J.Blacyk* has come to the rescue on two occasions for the Polish and i'd be all the more confident in a Portugal play here if he comes off the bench again. These two teams are easily occupy the weakest bracket of the European tournament currently. Absolutely LOVE the corner play against Poland for Portugal. They do have alot of weak shots on goal and they generally don't seem to trouble keepers all that much. Given Ronaldo will have at least 3 long range free kicks in this match and 2 of them will result in a corner, this seems too good to be true here.

                          Italy V Germany
Have to disagree with you here as well. I'm a firm believer in teams having to build their way to their best. Italy have fired two huge shots in this tournament against Belgium and now Spain. I think they've showed their best hand and i'm not believing the hype of the Italians here. Germany are the defending World Champions and have done absolutely nothing to show otherwise. Low has dissected both performances by the Italians by now and you can bet that the Germans will know how to play this team. You want to talk about disciplined? Look no further than a German team that know how to win. I can also guarantee that no one from the German camp are giving any credit to the fact that they've never beaten Italy in 8 attempts. That's stats for handicappers and bookmakers to use on general public to throw you in one direction. Italy are going to be chippy in this matchup and i'm expecting them to score against Germany to break Germany's 'clean-sheet-of-the-tournament' stat but Germany will finally make Buffon work for his pennies in this.
                          *Germany Qualify

Portugal to qualify for me. I like the changes their coach made in the last game, like Cedric playing at rightback. It gives them a better defence than selecting a winger to play there. Rui Fonte also played well in place of the classy but tired Carvalho.

Lewandowski seems out of sorts, maybe his injury is more serious than reported. Good enough to play but could hinder him as well.

Just some interesting additional info I found, Lewandowski hasn't scored in his past 4 games, each 9 times this has happened previously, he has always scored in the 5th game (Lewandowski to Score anytime pays around +200).

worries about the homepitch edge and any breaks will like go France's way, but have been unimpressed with France (as well as Germany) in this tournament to date. Pogba still not that magician we think. Iceland plays with heart and as a team ad won't be scared, but agree, the Home edge HUGE in these things. Iceland very focused and not just an odds underdog—they think they can win and that matters.

Well, the Corner handicap from the main 2 picks came in comfortably, so did the draw, draw and under 2.5 as well as the double chance from the alternative...Lewandowski to score which I also mentioned came in after 2 minutes... Poland lost on penalties to a Portuguese side which I will still maintain was quite horrible, penalties is always a lottery so the chance was 50/50 here. Overall, 5 wins and 1 loss for today.

@mankee21 You underestimate the Portuguese team. They should of easily beat Hungary if not for the two deflections. Right now it's a little bit of under performing and some bad luck. CR7 had three clear attempts in front of goal vs Poland and whiffed on the ball each time. Up front their lacking in their finishing but defensively they're playing real well.

If Raphael Guerreiro can play (suffered a knock) in the Semi's and Finals, their back line is going to be tough ....

Portugal are in the semis without winning a single game in 90 minutes...just let that sink in. They are the worst team to make it to the semi finals in years, if not ever.

                                            Wales - Belgium

What are we backing for Wales - Belgium... it's one of those games I can't seem to find any value in, as it can really go both ways depending on which Belgium side shows up
