    EURO 2016: England - Russia
    EURO 2016: England - Russia

England always come into these championships with solid qualification results, the same old squad, talking a good game and with the rest of the world/europe laughing at the underachievers ! The first is still true, they were a perfect 10/10 in qualification, but this time everything else feels different, the old guard is gone , no Lampard, Gerrard etc and with a very young, but fresh, talented, hungry and energetic squad including Kane, Vardy, Rashford, Alli, Barkley, Wilshire, Dier, Sterling , Stones and Sturridge, who not only have a togetherness and self belief, but the repect of their peers . They have nothing to fear, seven of that group are aged 18-22, are only going to improve ( a lot) and will have many major championships ahead, anything they do in Euro 2016 is really a bonus .

Russia are exactly the opposite, they struggled through a weak qualification group and have conceded nine goals in warm up friendlies to France, Croatia and Czech Republic, 12 of their squad are in their 30th year , it looks like top scorer Aleksandr Kerzhakov's career is over and Alan Dzagoev and Igor Denisov arguably their two best players ( actually not really a debate in the case of Dzagoev) , along with several others were forced to withdraw and the ageing backline looks vulnerable and looks as if they were picked from the cast list of Dad's Army. On top of all these troubles ( Fabio Capello left the squad in terrible shape and devoid of confidence), it was reported that a number of players have had to sit out training this week and the two camps could hardly be in more polar opposite moods coming into these championships.

I don't like the line value at the moment, but I agree England will win. Watched Russia against Serbia few days ago and they were outplayed in that match. Dzagoev being unable to play is a huge blow, because now they lack some flair and creativity up front.

Everybody seems to be on the choking wankers. Russia is planning to attack a lot and exploit the weak D of the wankers. I think Russia o0.5 is a good prop. And friendlies do not translate into official results.

lines will move for every game in Euro Cup this isn't 2 city teams playing each other these are entire countries betting for their country these games. Don't look into the line movement too much it a non-factor

At current odds, I'd love to take Russia. But I simply can't make a good case for them. With Dzagoev playing number 10, I would dare to pull the trigger. Even though they are fielding an offensive minded lineup, I am not sure if they can pull it off with these players. Dzyuba is a big bruiser up front, who needs a quality pass to score some goals. I prefer to see Kokorin at striker. Not sure how dangerous he can be out wide, on the wing. Shatov AMC instead on the wing... That doesn't make much sense to me. But that's just on paper, on field it might come to some changes.

The main problem with taking England is not lineups, injuries or whatever. It is their rep as being a primo choking team. But if we are talking strategies and lineups, English D is pretty weak so I think Russia will squeeze at least one goal.

So far English are living to their reputation of effete wankers. Lallani is a joke and Kane is not much better. No real strikers on that team, especially with Vardi left on the bench. 0-1 Russia is my prediction.

And don't even get me started on that coach. His decisions on strategy and lineup (and Kane taking all the corners) are brilliantly idiotic. But he is English so that explains that.

I don't know, Lallana has had a few good plays and Rooney has had a couple good strikes. England overall has controlled this match. But as you know from my thread I'm hoping for Russia to draw or eve possibly win here.
