because the Chairman Cortese is one of the new breed of owners who treats it like a real life Football Manager! He got bored and wanted something more continental so went with Pochettino. He probably wants him in to try and attract more European talent (specifically Spain) and follow Swansea's model

More bizarre is Leonardo Jardim being sacked from Olympiakos, sitting in 1st place in greek league 10 points clear of 2nd place and still in european competition and cup play

That is bizarre. He must be wanted elsewhere, or got into an argument. Perhaps same with Adkins.

The Chairman didnt like Jardim's style of play, he didnt like how he Jardim was playing with two defensive midfielders and not playing an attacking style. Even though they beat Kavala 2-0 and Levadeaikos 1-0 it wasnt deemed good enough

There is also a rumour that Jardin was plowing the Chairman's wife which never goes down too well.

The Adkins decision was ridiculous, if he was going to be sacked it should have been at the start of the second. He took them from 22nd in League One to the EPL in a couple of years and had lost just two of their previous twelve. To hire a guy who struggled with Espanyol and with limited (if any?) English skills is a bit of a joke.
