DSL= 1 pipeline to 1 house. Consistent speed. Antiquated copper wiring can bite you in the ass. Distance from the node also plays a part.

Cable= Bigger pipeline.....But shared. Varied speed depending on neighborhood traffic.

Fiber to the premises (Ex. Most Verizon FIOS)= Best. Best of both words. Doesn't deteriorate over distance like copper/dsl.

BTW.....6 hours seems like bull sh*t.

DSL can take a while to get up to full speed. You are supposed to leave the dsl modem plugged in and on for like a couple days right after you activate it. That's what my modem had written on it when I had dsl. Also, your dsl speed will also be determined by how far you live from the telco office. Cable is much better. If you don't have FIOS, you won't be getting it. Verizon said they are not expanding the FIOS network.

The dsl worked for 2 days and now shot. Verizon says no clue why and cant be fixed. Direcctv gonna try to charge me a dime for early cancellation for the triple play bundle.

Its shot. Internet light on modem out after 4 days of on and off service. verizon tech on phone said nothing else can be done. In my area there is no other pathway to route me thru. Which is fine. I will cancel and get comcast cable and internet but the problem is the 960 dollar penalty directtv is going to try to charge me. Hopefully i can get it worked out.

So the signal to your home is gone? The modem isn't shot? Has a tech come to you home to test it?

Sounds like bullsh!t that they can get you back up and running again.

I dont want to be back up and running. I fukkin want out. Problem is cancelling the directtv side of bundle. Computer showing connected. On techs end showing connected. This after 4 days of on and off service. Ive fukkin had it. Never in my life have i had any type of subpar crap anything. Im not some fukkin jerkoff that gets anything second rate and deals with it. I go first rate with everything. I dont have the time or the patience for this bullshit second rate internet. And again had i known dsl was second rate i would of never gotten it. good news

cable internet hooked up today. still wish i could get fios like i had in my last place. spoke to a verizon guy the other day and he said if your neighborhood doesn't have it yet you aren't getting it. too expensive too install the wiring

pretty decent considering DSL was like 2.5 download mbps when it was working
