So i usually do light weight lots of rep workouts. But i just signed up for gym and i am doing cardio. Today was my 3rd day in a row. And man my f u c k i n g shin just seems like I got bashed with a bat on the inside of my right calf. Any remedies or solutions? I try to tell myself while im running and feel that pain " pain and discomfort is getting the weak out " but shit that shit hurts.

#3used to get that a lot too, the pain was too much at times. The advice I got was to stretch them before any type of exercise and it has worked for me so far. I stand on the edge of stairs, lift myself slowing up then down using my toes for a few minutes before workout. Holding on to weights while doing this is even better.
Good luck to you.Comment -

#6i started to run a few years ago and got shin splints really bad. there really is nothing that can be done about it. either work through the pain or rest your body and it will eventually heal. gl.Comment -

#8Treadmills or anything that produces movement other than your own body makes you more likely to get severe shin splints. This is because you don't get the necessary drive of your back foot and forces your front step to produce more=shin splints.Comment -

#11Tight calves is another possibility...does your gym have a foam roller? You can do what's called "self-myofascial release" to loosen up knots in the calf muscles.
Kind of like in this video, though the girl rolls her calves quickly. I think it's better to go slower and stay on a knot in the muscle.
If no foam roller, can do the same with a basketball or similar.
