How to shave without irritation?

My lower neck always gets red bumps from shaving, I play sports and run everyday so I sweat alot. I try to shave after activity but still the little red bumps are still there. I am going up with the grain on lower neck, and down with grain on all other cuts..

have you tried shaving with cold water and/or dry with an electric?

cold water after the shave but warm/hot water to open up pores/soften hairs prior to the shave. shaving oils help too, I use a straight blade razor and love it though its a bit more work lol

I either don't shave or use dry shaver clippers
