Anyone ever made an offer on a home or land that wasnt for sale?

Im trying to start contruction on my new home. I got the money, the house plan, the company to build it, but I dont have the land.
All the developments in my area are not selling lots til mid 2013.
Vancant land is pretty tough to find in this area.
Im considering making offers to knock down a shitty house, to build mine.
anyone ever done this before?

I try to buy stuff thats not for sale all the time. Examples: women, asians, children, cats, worn shoes,etc.

Wtf is wrong with people. I called 2 people. The first guy already has his backyard divided into 3 lots. I ask him if he'd be interested in reviewing an offer from me. The guy says it doesnt matter how much u offer it isnt for sale.

The 2nd guy says he'd be interested in the distant future. I say what if i can make u an offer in the next 2 weeks. He says id rather list it and hangs up.
