        1. High level site previews in search results
        2. A multimedia search within a site function
        3. A social layer which, among other things, allows Volunia users to share information and connect to one another

High level previews and a multimedia search is nice, but the social layer sounds like chaos.

The idea is to create a comfortable environment for people to chat and share experiences regarding products or services that a website may offer. But, what you will probably find is a barrage of spammers and other people who will try to persuade you to another website.

I don't imagine a comfortable environment; I foresee chat-rooms crammed full of post-whores who make it impossible to pull anything relevant out of it.

It's gonna be hard to kill Google.

The reason why Google is successful is because they simplified the search engine and gave people what they wanted: Fast, accurate answers.

The problem with Yahoo is all the crap that comes along with it. If you just need to search for something, do you really need to read about Brittney Spears, celebrity fashion fopas, and numerous other things that you could care less about? No.

Yahoos idea of "Build it and they will come" ended up tearing itself down. All people really want is a fast and simple way to find accurate search results. That's Google.

Volunia appears light years ahead of anything currently being used. The social layer of it sounds amazing. Imagine being able to search for say, the movie Casablanca, and then being able to have a chat with other fans of the movie. Now that's some cool shit.

A chat room puts them light years ahead??

                Bro...its an old idea.

It's one thing to be put in touch with an expert on the subject, but to just go into a chatroom full of random people talking about a TV that's for sale at Wall Mart seems kinda ridiculous.

That shits never gonna take off man.

A search engine that lets people chat and give their opinion?

Reminds me of sites that have news stories and let people respond..The story is about a missing child or The Rolling Stones new tour and it's full of posters saying shit like 'I met my husband on such and such site' and 'Obama is a soclialist'.

Exactly. Just another place for spammers and idiots to take a dump in.

I see nothing about it having chat rooms. I do foresee face-to-face chat over your webcam though on common searches.

Either way though, it's light years ahead of google.

A simple chat feature does not put someone light years ahead.

It is not a new idea.
