Well, you can call me big ern. Maserati's are total piles. Only guys who really want to look cool and know nothing about cars buy those. Why the hell do you think they're basically worth scrap metal after a few years?

That thing is an abomination.
It may say Maserati on it but that is about as far as it goes.

That isn't really the point of getting a Maserati (not that the quatroporte is a real Maza), or an Aston Martin or an Alfa Romeo or a Lancia in the old days.
You know they are going to fall apart and be worth 50% less in a year's time but they give you so much joy for those two or three months that everything works. Only proper petrolheads/gearheads get it, I suppose.

The reports of the Maseratis typically collapsing within a year in this thread are way exaggerated.

I would agree if these guys spent their time lapping the 'ring, carving the dragon, or hanging out at goodwood with the rest of the car dudes. We both know 98% of these spend their lives idling slowly through busy traffic, at the mall, and parked in front of the strip club.
Range rovers are the same way. Unreliable garbage status symbols only driven by skinny women to the spa.

It may be with the more modern ones. Fiat's quality control has improved a lot even with it's small cars.
I had a 1995 3200GT which was the most frustratingly awesome car I have ever had. The electronics must have been assembled by a drunkard and the automatic downshift was like hitting a kerb but driving it on the twisty country roads was just brilliant.

5 Euros spent to to a lap of the Nordscheife in ANY car with a manual transmission is the best investment that can be made IMHO.

Here's a plan... Buy the quatroporte, ship it to Australia where any Maserati under 6 years old sells for minimum $100,000.
Rinse and repeat half a dozen times and buy the Bentley Continental Supersport.
Partly because of import duty on 'luxury cars'.... but mostly because we have too much money on average and have been used to paying higher prices than other countries for decades due the "transport distance factor".
Basically multi-nationals treat Australians like the biggest suckers on earth... price it as high as they will bear paying.
Even Ikea stuff is double or triple what you pay for it down here.
And you'll love this one. Our locally made Holden car that was turned into the Pontiac GTO costs 30% less in America than here.
Luckily the population has started to wake up and local retailers are hurting worse than anywhere else as we get more and more comfortable dealing with overseas online stores.
Imagine what it feels like looking at your car prices from here btw?? Like a kid in a candy store for a petrol head like me.

You don't think the government thought of that? It's a lot more expensive, and usually illegal to import vehicles for personal use.
