Nothing less then a 15.5".
My old Dell is a 17", and my current SONY VAIO is a 15.5.
But if your always traveling, I could see the smaller size coming in handy.

It depends. Are you using to go out on trips all the time ans take it in and out of bags/airports etc?
The more mobile use for it you have the smaller the better.

I have a 17.3 inch and I don't think it's that much less portable than the smaller ones. Definitely recommend it.

Netbooks are great for traveling. The screen is tiny but its great for keeping up with sports with multiple streams, browsing and watching movies/music. Mine is a couple years old now and does a very good job of multitasking. They dont have cd/dvd drives but those are just about useless nowadays.
If it is laptop for around the house, the bigger the better.

Used to have a laptop with 15" screen and was going to upgrade to 17", but the size of the laptop was too big, not to mention ridiculous battery life. Ended up buying 14" and loving it. If I need bigger size screen to watch movies I can just hook it up to 50" plasma.

15 is perfect..... anything above that usually gets too big and heavy to handle.

for me the best is 15, because it is quite big and the laptop weight is not so big like laptop with 17 screen.

17 if you don't need battery life. Basically it's a portable PC.

17" is perfect. Don't be a little boy and act like 15" is too heavy to carry. 99% sure you seldom leave the house anyways with the laptop

This. If you are mainly using it at home, get the biggest one you can afford. If you are almost always using it on the road, I would say 15" or even 13".

Either way don't overpay, go with a better brand as these things tend to be expensive to work on. When they go bad better easier to just replace.

a higher quality screen is more important than size - if traveling, try it in well lit rooms that can produce a lot of glare. a blurry 17 sucks compared to a kickass 15
