I actually do wear a shirt when I swim and primarily for the reason above. I wear one of those thin microfiber t-shirts which doesn't inhibit my ability to swim at all.

Wear whatever you want. Its not like the other people have never seen a big guy flopping around in a shirt in the ocean.


I wear a rash guard when body boarding, but t-shirts irritate the skin because the hold sand in the creases.

Also TT if you wear a long bathing suit that hits at the knees put Vaseline on the back of you knee joint so the suit does not rub. Skin is real sensitive there.
