After baking some potatoes it got really hot and now all the lights are out on the clock even though it's plugged in.
Anyone knows how to fix it. It's only 2 years old.

unplug it for 10 seconds and plug it back in or make sure it didn't trip a gfci if it is near the sink

You didn't try to microwave any cats or the like did you? Normally that could clog up the vents Also, check your circuit breaker

Unscrew the door off the hinges. Carefully cut the tabs off that lock the door in. Place those tabs in the slots that they would go in until you hear a click. Then bam!!
You now have a microwave that win run without that pesky door. Its so much more convenient.

It's not the gfci. I plugged in the coffeemaker and it works. I think it died. Would buy a new one. Just wanted to make sure I didn't trash a working appliance.

internal fuse...not worth messing with due to the fact that if you screw things up people can and will get hurt.

I bought a new microwave a few months ago. Went with a Kenmore from Sears.
It cooks alot faster than my old microwave, although it is a little louder. 1200 watts - 1.5 cu. ft. for $150:
Shop Sears for appliances, tools, clothing, mattresses & more. Great name brands like Kenmore, Craftsman Tools, Serta, Diehard and many others.

Thanks Spurginobili. I will keep that in mind. Would buy extended warranty this time.

They don't make them like they used to. I just had to buy a new microwave also. I had an old early 1990's model that lasted until last month. Of course, it was almost as big as my regular oven....

True Mr KLC. I had a microwave for 12 years in college and a couple of years ago we decided to buy a new one even though the old one was working perfectly and the new one died in 2 years.

Damn, dead after 2 years.
I'm still using a Microwave that is dated 1999. *Knocks on wood*

When we used to make stuff in the US they would last decades. Now everything is made cheaply in China and they don't last long.

Yeah. They make more profit that way too. Why make something that last 10+ years, when you can make something that last 2 to 3 years so people have to buy 2 or 3 in that 10 year span. Sucks but it is where we are at these days.

It will cost me more to repair it than buying a new one.
