If you are staying downtown go to the "fremont street experience" website. Password is REALVEGAS. They got good coupons for some good buffets. And getting from downtown to the stripe is kind of a hassle. I would just stay downtown the whole time unless you want to go to the stripe clubs. Experiment rhino would be the best for stripe clubs. Imperial Palace is kind of old and shitty but it is cheap and in the middle of the stripe. They are the only hotels in vegas that still have balconies though.

The nicest books are going to be on the stripe. But I feel like downtown is where the sharper guys are laying down the action. You know, the half bald fat guy with a half open hawaiin shirt that has 5K on San Jose State to cover against Wisky while eating the free buffet he got for his action.

What things do you want to know exactly? I'm a local, I'm on the strip nearly every day, been in every strip casino, and a lot of the hotel rooms.

As far as room and airline costs go, it will vary greatly from week to week due to conventions. If you stay Sunday-Thursday during a week with no conventions, your trip will be surprisingly cheap, if you're going on a busy weekend you'll have to pony up.

The Nugget is nice, but it's downtown. Downtown isn't bad, especially if you're only staying for a couple days, but if you plan on spending most of your time on the strip you're better off staying on the strip.

I know people are going to disagree with me... but here's what I would do. I would choose The Rio as my hotel. $60 bucks a night out the door. Every room there is a suite and you get a free safe... (especially to store your cash for sports gambling) comes in handy. The shuttle service to take you TO AND FROM the strip is free... and it comes every half hour. Take it to Harrah's. Walk across the street and you can gamble at The Mirage.... and to the left is Caesars. Great sport books at both casinos. You'd have a blast! I do it every time I'm in Vegas. It never gets boring... trust me.

First off, if you're staying at MGM do the $20 trick. MGM was built by adding new construction over a dumpy motel. So some rooms are 5 star and others are very small, old, dumpy motel rooms with a fresh coat of paint. The $20 trick will get you upgraded out of the refurbished motel section and might even get you a kickass suite if the hotel isn't busy.

I'm not the guy to ask for club advise (very few locals go clubbing, it's too expensive). The best tip I can give you is to get your girlfriend a spa package. It will score you major points, but the real benefit is that you can park her there for an afternoon and do stuff without her. Gambling with a girlfriend never works because you'll want to leave at different times, so having her occupied gives you a chance to degen it up.

For sports betting you'll probably get better lines next door at Tropicana than at MGM, but if you're planning on sweating your bet don't do it anywhere but the Palazzo. In terms of comfort, ambiance, and service, no other book compares. I can't understate how nice the Palazzo book is.

I already reserved my room about 3 weeks ago so not sure about the $20 trick unless all rooms have the option of upgrading to the new room lol. I think one day were gonna get a cabana and chill but I'll try n check out the Trop for my degen activities and try to go to Palazzo to check in on my winners . Any tips on good places to grub? I know our room comes with a free buffet at the MGM so I'm set for that, but other times I'll wanna grab something to eat.

3 weeks, 3 years, or 3 minutes, it doesn't matter. The $20 trick will always work provided that there are available rooms to upgrade to. I've been in one of the small MGM rooms and they suck.

You won't have a hard time finding good food on the strip. Two good spots to go to with a girl are Taqueria Canonita at the Venetian (if you eat here I highly recommend the Santa Rosa Barbacoa) and Mon Ami Gabi at Paris (make sure to reserve a table outside so you'll have a view of the Bellagio fountains). There are too many good steakhouses to name, and almost as many good Italian places. I like the steakhouse at Harrah's, but if you pick a steakhouse at random you'll win. If you have a car Blueberry Hill diner on Flamingo and Tamarus is good for a cheap, old school breakfast.

                  Enjoy your trip...
