Have a mutt - sweetest dog I've ever seen. Just loves playing with other dogs - never gets into fights - plays with LARGE and SMALL dogs just as gently. Stubborn to commands though, heh.

Have had a Golden Retriever, Siberian Husky, and a German Shepard.

Retriever is a great family dog, especially for kids, they are pretty laid back. Shepard is a pretty good family dog to, really loyal. When i mow the lawn, he will shield my 4 year old step daughter from the noise of the mower, pretty cool.

Had a Husky in my bachelor years, they are a little more stubborn and independent, he would only listen to me, you need a little more time for a Huskey, they need a lot of excercise.
