Personally, I love having all my duties done by early afternoon. Is this an ongoing or a one-off? If it's on going bruv, summer is coming. You will kick yourself so fukin hard on nice evenings knowing you could have been done since 2

I think it depends how old you are and what stage of life you are in. 6am-2pm is cool because it leaves you a lot of business hours to be productive with during the day. The only thing that sucks is that you have to get to bed early and can't hang out with your friends late at night. The 4-12 lets you sleep in, allows you to hit the club if you want, but takes you away from all your friends who work a 9-5. You'll also get more ass working a 4-12 shift, if that applies to you.

Ugh. Hate both. 6-2 is better option though.

hehe... you're right in the middle man. When I was 22, I couldn't wake up that early... just couldn't do it. Also, I was looking for a lot of ass. I would have done the 4-12... gone home, showered, and hit on the chicks after the early dudes already bought them drinks. Now that I'm 30, and live with my girlfriend, I would much rather have 6-2. Hell, i'd rather trade my 8-5 right now for 6-2.

I am dead in the water by 6pm. Love the 6am - 2pm shift. Course it all depends on how much time you need in the morning etc. I wouldn't wanna wake up any earlier than 5:10am.

i love that early 6-2 p.m. shift. Man you will have half of the day at your disposal and watch all kinds of sports - take your wife to whereever you want. And if tired - just go to bed early and that's it.
I worked late shift in 2006 - you get to sleep till 10 or 11 which is nice and nothing to do in the morning really - everybody is busy. but when the whole world is off - you work till 12 and then everybody is out. Pick the first one - truly the best shift ever possible,

This, and it's not even close.
That second shift thing breaks up your day, and costs you relationships, from what I have experienced personally in a small way, and heard from others in big ways.
You have a bit of time in the late morning and very early afternoon. That's it. Ugh.

for me, 6-2 would be the way better option, especially if there is any sort of commute

Definitely the 6:00 to 2:00. You would miss so much more working the late shift.

2nd shift sucks cuz you end up staying up until 3am and then sleeping all morning. And it sucks to have to be to work at 4 because you're always waiting around to go to work. Always looking at the clock to see how long until you have to be to work.
I'd rather get up, go to work, leave at 2pm and have the rest of the day off.

Some consideration would also depend on what kind of work it is. But all in all 6to2, you will get used to getting up early. Sometimes even a late evening wont bother you that much.

I always thought the later was better because of sleep...but you've got to realize you lose sleep or sports....easy choice for me

Working second shift makes you feel like a giant loser and your life is wasting away. Awful.
