It all depends on your connections. That's the biggest part of getting a good job post-college, if you're in a business concentration. Start talking to professors, classmates, former employers, everyone. Having a network will guarantee you a job, having a good network will get you a decent-paying one. Good luck

I graduated from Penn State in 2008 with a degree in IST (Information Sciences and Tech) with a 3.4 GPA and I'm still looking for a decent paying job, several of my graduating classmates had way worse GPA's and got 60k starting jobs because they had connections. One had a brother working for some company in DC and his brother got him a job there and several others had connections from internships they did at big companies.

The best way to get a job after college is to talk to a former boss/supervisor at one of the places you interned for, as long as you did a good job as an intern and they liked you, then you have a good chance. If you didn't do any decent internships at big name companies then you will probably have a hard time like me. I had an interview last week for a cashier position at a retail store called Sportsman Warehouse and couldn't even land that. I've also applied to Best Buy and Staples several times even though I despise Best Buy, and never got an e-mail or phone call back. I guess it's time to really start scratching the bottom of the barrel to get a job.

I know you're being sarcastic but there are still certain degrees that are not having a hard time finding jobs - like computer science, medical, law, etc.

Don't worry about the amount of pay . Just take a job within your field.
Not having experience will hurt you badly so get any experience you can even at a lesser pay scale so as to boost your resume.
Once you secure a job, keep your resume out there.Update it all you can.Within 2 years(maybe less) you will have a better job that pays more, but be patient.
Yes, that advise was not what you wanted to hear. However it is real and the way things are in this current job climate.Especially in the finance and accounting field.
Also might try talking to a V.P. at a local bank and asking if you can be a roving helper filling in for people taking vacations this summer.The exposure to various jobs within might help enlighten you as to a specific field of expertise.That will really boost the resume and maybe you can catch on there.

I'm trying to find an internship or a part time job in my field. The problem is they all require experience....also I am really busy with classes and working 25-30hrs a week. I'm sure the internship or other job will pay less than my current IT job. Im getting paid $15 per hr which is great for a part time job. Any ideas on how to get an internship that pays around $10-12 an hour?

I found this to be the best advice in the thread so far. Take a position in your field and be willing to do what it takes for some period of time to either show the company that hires you then need you to stay or you get the experience you need to find the position you want. Much better to be looking for work while working than out of work as indicated by many of the posts above. Best of luck.

I jUst graduated 3 months ago, and find a job last month. It's my first job so my salary is low (18k€, or 25k$), but i like it and plan to stick with it for a couple of years

What kind of degree did you graduate with and what kind of work are you doing? tbh 25k yearly salary is very low for a college grad, that comes out to around $12 an hour. I am not trying to insult you but I got paid $10 an hour working PT as a bank teller in HS and I am getting paid $15an hour right now working PT as IT. I am expecting my pay to increase since I will have a degree, I was hoping for a salary pay of at least 35k.

A good friend of mine is the IT director for the company so he hooked me up with a job. I am under-qualified but hes showing me the ropes. They implemented new computer system company wide so I assisted with setting up new computer which was super easy and installing programs. Slowly learning a lot in the field but the downside is it's not what im going to school for and not what I want to do in the future.

You can't expect to win much more in Spain when you are a just graduated guy with no experience... I sometimes look at jobs in the US and they are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay higher than the same in Spain... Yes, Spain sux.
