Wanting to take a trip to SF
I live about 6 hours south of SF. Been twice once for a football tourney and the other for a game so never stayed in the city. I wanna take a weekend trip(friday-sunday) this coming weekend.

I know i would like to go to Alcatraz and check out pier39??
What are some good places to go/eat/stay?

I am a big fan of San Francisco. I live in Southern CA and it's like a different world up in the Bay.

I heard SF was one of the most expensive cities in the country. Have fun when you go tho.

That place is really expensive and getting around downtown and on the bay is hell.

All the bridges are pretty cool tho. I live up in Portland and SF is as far as I'm willing to go down highway 101 before I turn around

                              Free parking in SF?
I hope you like to walk. Try Bliss or Harry's Bar on Fillmore, many good times there and plenty of nice little restaurants and shops around there. Canuck had it right, Union Square, GG Park, Fisherman's wharf, Marina district up and down Chestnut, all good places. Plenty of hotels around union square that are between $130-180 a night, not bad. Be forewarned though, SF is ridiculous expensive in general. Although if you look around you can get decent deals. Have fun!

House of Prime Rib is a little pricey but sort of worth it. If you really want to go crazy, the literal best restaurant on the planet is about an hour away.

Thanks fuzzy and chip. I found a hotel about a half mile from pier 39 for $80 with free parking too. Lots of very good reviews on trip advisor, which is a great site for travels to write reviews.

But thanks a lot for the food tips, that's one of my favorite things to do when in another city

This city revolves around food. Check out chowhound to know what's good right now. http://chowhound.chow.com/boards/1

If you ever find yourself at Fisherman's Wharf, or Pier 39, or Alcatraz, or Coit Tower, or on a Cable Car understand that you're in a place virtually nobody who lives in The City has ever been. And please, spend a lot of money while you're here.

Alcatraz. Giants game. Gotta see thr golden gate bridge. Golden gate park and pier 39. I think this should keep me busy for the weekend and if not then I've got more stuff.

But thanks for thr food places. I'm gonna give them a try

It is an Irish Pub during the day turn bar at night...Usually stop in everytime I take a trip to the city...Friendly atmosphere and great music...If its not your thing, not a bad place to stop in for a drink or 2

Don't drive. Park somewhere on the out skirts and ride the trolley!
