#10I had one done in 2003, very painful but you need to get it done if you have one. Depends on where it's at you could die from strangulation.המוסד

#14I had the 2 inguinals and 1 umbilical and did the three on the same surgery, the recovery was pretty good, that same evening i was walking (with struggles obviously) and went to the bathroom on my own. I had only to stay 1 night at the hospital and went back to school 3 days after surgery.
the best thing about it was the anesthesia!Comment -

#19I've had a hernia for about 12 years now. Been just ignoring it, but it does seem to be getting a little worse for wear as time goes by. Every once in a while I will try to push my insides back in if it starts to feel uncomfortable, but there really doesn't seem to be any point to this attempt any more. It used to help for a few minutes, now I might as well not bother. If it gets any worse, perhaps I will get surgery, but I will try to hold out until I qualify for Medicare. I suppose yours is in a worse area, or inhibits your movement so you don't want to live with it?Comment -

#21Watch the reality show on the Golf Channel about Mark Burke, the 53 year old homeless sort of pro golfer without health insurance who has a hernia that bothers him when he plays. They are going to get him free surgery for it but the guy is in for a surprise if he lugs around his own golf bag because within a year he will need surgery again. The motive of the story is,from the time you are a kid you should snub manual labor and take up playing the piano. All manual work will do for you is turn you into a heavy drinker, make you hang out with a bad crowd, get you a whore for a wife and put you in an early grave. All that talk where people shame others for not wanting to be a good worker or hard worker is socialist bullcrap.Take the easy route and don't aspire to want alot of huge material possessions that you have to kill your body and you will live alot longer.Comment -

#23It's a piece of cake; you never feel a thing. I guess there are levels of severity and possible complications, but I experienced none of this.Comment -

#24Seems to me the consensus is as far as pain its like the first 3 days and then you just need to not do too much heavy lifting and or stressful activitiesComment -

#25Had a sports hernia operation following my junior year of baseball. Went through entire season with it was very uncomfortable. Ended up having two hernias fixed at the same time. One inch cuts with mesh plugs inserted. Pain was not bad first week after. One month later was playing baseball again.Comment -

#28I would recommend a 'network chiropractor' over any surgery. Had major lower back pain many years ago. Very debilitating. Then this chiropractor I knew told me about network chiropracting. He told me to come in three times a week for one month. I did. The pain disappeared and never returned. He didn't crack anything. Just applied gentle pressure on a few spinal points. Lot cheaper than surgery too.
