cops are just collecting revenue for the state, municipality, province, etc. They dont give a shit about safety or anything. Think about it... even if you were going the speed limit, it doesnt matter. It is your word against his, and in a justice system designed to collect cash from people, you are SOL.

Most cops Ive met are complete dicks on and off duty, and they dont care that they are essentially stealing from people.

You are wrong here. Of course it brings in revenue, but do you know how much it costs to clean a body/car off the road? Or how much it costs to save/treat someone?

There is an element of safety in this equation. Its not just about mailing in 100$.

What? The point isnt that giving out tickets is a deterant. The point is that cops have a motive for giving you a ticket.

Many law enforcement organizations use points to evaluate performance of cops. So a cop that gives out 100 tickets gets a better performance review than someone who gives out 4 tickets. Therefore, there is motivation to give out tickets for reason that arent justified (made up). And in many places investigating a murder=1 point and giving out a traffic ticket=5.

BTW, a tow or winch out is roughly 100 bucks, and a municipal worker/clean up crew is about the same per hour.

Your municipality makes millions and millions of traffic tickets. My point is that even if everyone followed the traffic laws, that revenue cant be taken away.

Yeah a cop pulled me over for doing 65 in a 55 but I did not have my seat belt on so he wrote me a ticket for the seat belt and a warning for the speeding. I have to repeat what he said when he told me to make sure I was hearing him right. 65 in a 55! Oh ok!

I got pulled over in Connecticut going 117 in 55.

The state trooper walked up to the window, and he was so big, all i could see was his waist, and he blocked out the whole car window. Was 18 at the time, and when he saw I was young, he just started screaming at me so much so i almost shit my pants.

Told me he was going to impound the car take me in. I was very apologetic and we slowly worked our way into a more normal conversation and he gave me a ticket (350 dollar fine) but got no points because there was no state to state transfer.

70 in a 60. 55 in a 45. Don't speed all that often. My rate of getting caught is pretty impressive, but hey you are talking to a guy who has gone 0 - 11 in March on games that have been decided by less than 3 points.

10 over is a little bit harsh. I'm not sure where some of you guys live. Most places I've driven, 7-10 over is sort of the standard; if you go any less than that, you are holding up the flow of traffic.
