I heard a rumor that the increase in the gallon of gas has something to do with the stock trading of crude oil on Wall Street back in 2006? I'm not a stock trader but a friend of mine who is told me the official date when it hit Wall Street and you could buy stock in Crude Oil was the day this BS started! There is an estimated 23 to 30 billion dollars in that stock currently. It's the constant buying, selling etc that has done this to the world. Think about it for a second. My friend told me... if they wiped the stock out and you couldn't trade it anymore... the price of a gallon would go back to around $1.50 if not less. There was no such thing of supply and demand of crude oil itself. It was the supply and demand of the damn stock. That stock effects us world wide.

Yeah keep telling yourself that when gas hits $6 + and you are crying about mpg... People with real money are already making the switch. You know Sharp people i was in old town Pasadena yesterday all that " old money" every other car was a volt, smart, prius or nissan leaf should tell you something those people didnt get wealthy by making bad decisions.

Hypermiling is an option. Some of the techniques are annoying and/or dangerous... but some are very easy to implement without any problem.
