When I find what I want I look for a download link from Megaupload and only Megaupload to download from. They have the fastest speeds for free users.

If I can't find what I want there I turn to Usenet and download with a program called NewsLeecher, which costs money but there are other free alternatives like Grabit. I purchased a 180GB plan from Astraweb for 25 bucks that includes SSL downloading which lasts me until I use up the 180 Gigs. I've had it for a couple of months now and I've only used up around 20 GB, so it will probably last me well over a year. Not a bad deal for just 25 clams.

Downloading from Usenet with an SSL connection is really the safest way to download movies, tv shows, music, programs, whatever. If you download popular movies and music from a torrent site, like Demonoid or The Pirate Bay, don't be surprised when you get a cease and desist letter from the MPAA or the RIAA.

netflix is only $8 a month for streaming. and also, if you get the roku player you can channels that have free movies.
