    here is an interesting question.
you have the ability to go back not forward in time. you can go to any place, any time, anywhere without being harmed in any way. you can observe but only observe. you are unable to change anything at all. in other words you are an observer of history. and naturally you can not participate in any fashion. you may stay as short as 10 minutes or as long as a year.

    where would you go.

so many places in history I would love to observe. hundreds of them, many of them involving wars.

I ponder stuff like that all the time dante. Sure, there are some obvious and easy answers--I'd like to spy on Jesus; check out George Washington; try to get into the mind of Ben Franklin (and by the way, read up on that guy. He was a freakin' genius.) But then I think I want to get a little more small scale. I'd like to see what the people were doing on my exact coordinates 100 years ago. Two hundred years ago. A thousand years ago. I guess I'm just as interested to check out everyday people and the way they lived their lives as I am to see the people who changed the course of world events

you know I think the reasons so few answers is I forgot that you can interact but not change anything. you can speak with the people involved. yeah that was an important part. you can't change anything but you can get the perspective of the people in that situation.

like speaking with Hitler the last day of his life in the bunker. talking to his wife and getting their mind set just before they killed themselves.

this is the stuff I am writing about, exactly. how about walking around with Jesus and his crew. listening to him speak, touching his wounds.

I always thought if there is a best answer and there really isn't. but if you struggle with belief and religion how about this one. watching the crucifixion and waiting around for three days and three nights.

You do not want to go back in time!!

Think about just the early 1800's in America for example -

No antibiotics for infections and you will not get a well rounded diet. You get a bad tooth ache you drink and they pull it with pliers. Everyone smelled like shiit and the girls were hairy, no deodorant and very little bathing. No plumbing and electrical. Plagues running wild. Lawlessness was out of control. Etc...

I LIVE FOR THE FUTURE NOT FOR THE PAST. NO THANKS!!

I'm kind of with you there. I certainly have struggles with religion as a general concept, but I do believe that Jesus the man existed, and he was a great man who (regardless if one considers him a deity) has left us with some great precepts. Unfortunately, there are some who will even deny his existence, so not much to be argued there.

so how about this one. most of you have some knowledge of the internal combustion engine. how about spending some time with Ford during that time period. you know there were a ton of auto makers GM, Chevrolet was an actual inventor of autos. and many others. just imagine watching them produce an early car. knowing what you know which might be more than they did. that would be fun.

how about talking to Judas right before the betrayal. some religious leaders are now saying he was not the bad guy. in fact, some say he was ordained to do what he did by Jesus. makes some sense if Judas didn't do what he did well everything else that comes later would not have happened.

The four-part series, inspired by the book “The Many Lives of Marilyn Monroe” by Sarah Churchwell, is narrated by actress Jessica Chastain and features a cast of female voices (and an all-women editorial team) including Joan Collins, Ellen Burstyn, Mira Sorvino, Amber Tamblyn, Molly Haskell, Alicia Malone, Angelica Jade Bastien, Christina Newland and others. The series combines rare archival footage with first person accounts from women close to Monroe.
