#73I just checked this thread tonite.
It is mind boggling the tribal protectionism in thought & language liberals have.
Every fact, issue, stat, price verification, futures orders, market price and production analysis provided in the 4.5 pages of this thread completely obliterated the Biden economic & political stance, and basis for the prevailing liberal opinion.
Yet all they do to reply is name call...and call it a day.
Extremely sad, but easy to see how & why the society & cultural values of Democrat voters and liberal cities are decaying. There simply is no constructive thought- no ability to be independant....no willingness to comprehend and no humility when defeated.Comment -

#75Manipulation. There is way more oil than every, so supply is not an issue. Oil is produced by many more countries than it was 20 years ago. But opec and the cartels have agreements to limit the output to control price. Countries like Venezuela and others who don't comply are made villain with narratives and put on sanction so that their supply doesn't dilute the price. During the pandemic oil crash, many big boys took long positions all the way at the bottom and now they are driving it up. They will cash out and oil price will be crashed again. Crude probably has upside to $100 top but from their downside is higher and could go below $50 again. The narrative that I see is that they are pumping hard how the prices of natural gas and oil are going to go up the roof with winter starting. My guess is that we will see a pull back in prices after the next opec meeting in november as the big boys take some profit while the mass FOMO into buying it at top. Unless you are in the inside like in politics/congress/opec circle, its hard to time it exactly but my best guess would be pull back after opec meeting.Comment -

Fossil fuel burning plants can be more than 30% efficient.
An automotive engine burning gasoline might only be 5% efficient.
Charging an EV off a fossil fuel plant is still better, than burning it in a car.
$25k tesla EV is due out in a few years.
Democrats and Joe Biden hate Elon Musk / tesla though.
Vegetable oil waste from restaurants can be converted into biodiesel.
People used to pick up the vegetable waste from places like mcdonalds for free and convert into biodiesel they would power their flex fuel diesel volkswagons with.
H20 has two hydrogen atoms for every oxygen atom.
All people have to do to get hydrogen is run electricity through water (electrolysis) to separate the hydrogen and oxygen into a gas and collect it.
Hydrogen is problematic though for a variety of reasons.
The heart full of lies, rejects truth.

Lithium is used as a psychiatric medical treatment:
Eventually industries devoted towards recycling lithium batteries will become mainstream, which will reduce the toxicity factor.
Improved battery design and higher scaling of manufacture will make batteries cheaper and more affordable.Comment -

#87I'm all for electric garbage cars and what not but you can't get rid of gas driven cars and push that agenda like it is now. Let it happen naturally. Offer cheap electric cars, no reg fees, free charge stations, etc. Make it attractive and affordable. That's how you make the switch over.
Raising gas prices, reducing oil production in America and demonizing gas guzzling cars and trucks at a furious pace only stings the economy. Pushing the green new deal for trillions and telling us all the world is gonna end in 10 years to climate is complete CRAP also!!Comment -

#89^ Not in America Sanity. UK is ahead of us with Cheap electric garbage I see.
I have electric solar generators that I spent $1500 USD on. They only hold a charge for a day tops running house hold appliances. I feel I got ripped off. My gas run generators can run for days if you store gas and keep them running. This is what I bought a year ago, now they are $500 cheaper. Errrr. https://shopsolarkits.com/products/ecoflow-delta-1300
The only cool thing about the electric solar generators is you could take them camping with the family or in RV, set the solar panels outside in the sun in the day time and keep the charge going.
In an immediate emergency on the fly they will come in handy also. Still I feel I got ripped off. I got 2 of them.Comment -

First Electric Truck Hits the Road — It’s a Rivian.
“After months of building pre-production vehicles, this morning our first customer vehicle drove off our production line,” founder and CEO RJ Scaringe tweeted Tuesday. The first Rivian built for a customer was an R1T pickup in Rivian Blue, driven off the production line surrounded by cheering and masked workers at the company’s plant in Normal, Illinois.
The 2022 Rivian R1T boasts an EPA-certified range of 314 miles. It features a separate electric motor for each wheel, creating an adaptable 4-wheel-drive system. That should give it excellent off-road ability. Prices start at $67,500.Comment -

1300wH (watt hours) isn't a useful stat.
The number needed to know battery capacity is amp hours (ah).
^ 12 volts x 33 amp hours.
(12 volts of power at 1 amp for 33 hours.)
AFAIK the battery bank you linked to that costs $1,000 is rated 12 volts at 100 amp hours max.
It has the capacity of 3 car batteries costing $75 to $100.
...
Then you'd need an inverter to convert to appliance AC.
EcoFlow Delta 1300wH / 1800W Portable Solar Generator
You can get that with 18... 100 watt solar panels each costing around $100 each:
...
Lithium is about 2x smaller and lighter (and more expensive) than lead acid, nickel, alkaline batteries. Compactness, low weight and high energy density is what people pay for with lithium.
For residential applications, where weight and space aren't as much of factors. It can be better to use lead acid (car batteries) which are more affordable.
