serious question how about a serious answer from you guys who have the experience and can compare.

I truly love NY Style Pizza oh my god, but who doesn't right? I have never in my life had a slice of Chicago deep dish pizza. Some of you probably have had both. What do you say. I just ordered 6 frozen pizzas from a Chicago pizzeria. they send them frozen in dry ice--am I going to be disappointed. I understand it is frozen and that might detract from the real flavor, the next time I am in the Chicago area I will indulge.

also while we are on the subject are Buffalo wings from Buffalo really something special. one might think if you follow the recipe it has to turn out okay--right. or am I wrong on this one too.

I rarely indulge in food that isn't the greatest health wise. but, once in a while I do. For example I have not eaten a good cold meat hoagie in probably close to a year. I love them, good meat, good cheese, some hot peppers, great bread and an Italian Hoagie is superb. Subway that is complete shit

Yea the frozen stuff is ok. You really gotta go to experience it the way it’s supposed to be. I’ve only been as a tourist but I really liked Lou Malnatis.

i am not a huge fan of deep dish from chicago and prefer my Queens NY pizza places.

NY pizza is trash compared to authentic Cicago deep dish for a meal, however, 'the slice' has it's place as the best and fastest cure for drunken hungerness

sounds like you got Lou's or Giordanano's? maybe gino's east? I'm not sure if they ship.


I lived on east coast and moved here 15 years ago. It took a year or two to get used to deep dish.

If you got Lou's and it includes Sausage. be prepared for a way overpowering sausage.

I don't think much of the deep dish has enough cheese. I'll add cheese and put in oven on low, or just sprinkle a ton of parmesian on in person.

I don't think it's better than a good greasy classic NY style. But everyone's different, and there are days I do really crave deep dish, and i'm lucky to live within 6 blocks of 3 really good chains and another small shop that has a good deep dish.

Go on goldbelly and order a stuffed meatball pizza from bartolinis you won't be disappointed.

Source: born and raised in chicago. I never liked lous or ginos east if we're talking chains..I'd rather giordano's

Favorite item from portillos: beef n cheddar croissant

Also I like nuts on clark popcorn better than Garretts which seems to be everyone's favorite.
